It's not a story it's a philosophy. I cast no blame, I merely state the need. I'm referring to what is required. My concern is mostly the perception that we don't play fair and that is a black eye. I don't know of any other tracks that had a cheated crate engine get caught and still crown that team with a championship. (Apperently I was told wrong and this engine was a "built" motor using crate parts my apologies). I'm not arguing that is right or wrong but more of the question does it do any good? Does it inspire a strong sense of fair play that would attract racers to come from other tracks or come back? I don't know. Does anybody care? I dunno, Will the track enjoy growth or decline? dunno.
Should we try to get a better control on things and promote a sound program? lots of people out here saying paving the track will save the day!!! will it? dunno cause it most likely won't happen. Somebody on here suggested pave it or close it!! I drove an hour to hear let's pave the track as the answer!!
I'm glad your experience was a good one and I hope you return. lots of questions to be answered for sure. I'm taking the time to apologize if anybody gets offended but the facts are the facts.
I think we all left that meeting with more questions than answers, that being said I don't expect all the answers to come from one the speedway. I think some of the answers need to come from teams as well.
Justin and Manny and the rest of us are faced with a couple of distinct tasks. Get more cars and get more fans. Posting about pavement isn't going do it. Trying to collectively think about plans to further the agenda of the track. Reaching out and finding new fans and getting the old ones back is the goal. Dare I say if you look at NASCAR and the different way they have approached this you will find they have cross marketed the product in many ways. Music, gambling, shopping and even wineries have become partners, charities are a long time connection. Delaware is extremely lucky to have such a great facility that is under utilized and quite frankly under promoted. Camping and Racing goes together!! maybe there's something there that's not fully utilized.
