At the meeting tonight, someone leaned over to me and said "So what really happened to so-and-so's posts on CRO" I was a little surprised...it hadn't occurred to me that anyone would suspect admin/moderator shenanigans....so I need to clear something up.
This quote, from the General Stock Car forum on this site basically explains it.
Sorry for the downtime. I hired a guy that was suppose to know what he was doing with this forum to upgrade to the latest version.
I logged on and I was getting errors and things didn't look right and I had a huge error.log file. So I knew right away something was wrong.
I tried to bring a backup of the site but the guy made a bad backup and my backup was from Dec 5th 2011. So we lost 5 days of posts.
That's CRO wide. the Barrie board lost some, the Sunset one lost some. Basically if it was posted beween the 5th and the 10th its just gone.
It sucks, but it was a malfunction.
So let me say once again, that I, nor anyone else here, have any interest in deleting posts or threads without explanation. I'd never say never, but we'd warn you first and explain it afterwards too.
I say this only so that a couple of those threads had some good stuff and its worth reposting if you get the chance. The right people are listening.
We did have a backup from the guy doing the forums that night but it was a bad backup so we had to recover the forums from Dec 5th 2011.
I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do about this.
I'm looking into away to backup the database daily by itself as I have to do them manually or we have a weekly one from our hosting which is the one we had to do. (Which cost me money to get restored)
No one is deleting post here. I think people that know us, we explain our actions before we would consider removing posts.
You also have to remember the member that starts a topic can remove a post and that would remove the entire post. Also a member can remove replies. If you like we can turn this feature of and you really would have no controls over your posts.
With just me doing all the back end stuff I run out of time to do things. I spent over 6 hours trying to restore the site the night it went down.
That is good to know cause I was wondering where a couple of my post got to last week.....no worries just keep up the super great job you are doing here on CRO!!!!!
