Now I'm all for having larger purses (who isn't) but before anyone continues to criticize Delaware for paying $500 less to win, take a look at the overall purse...
Comparing the payout breakdown for the top 24 participants...
Delaware > $15,925
Flamboro > $16,000
(Aside: Flamboro's payout breakdown stops at 24th. Does that mean 25th and on don't get paid or they cap the field? Delaware pays out 28 positions (if necessary) so theoetically they are prepared to dish out $16,725.)
Assuming both tracks have 24 car fields, the cheapskates at Delaware are pocketing $75!!! 😮 To me, using the $500 difference between winners as the basis for an argument really isn't fair.
The only real debate is this: Do you prefer a front-loaded payout (Flamboro) or one that is more balanced (Delaware)?
(Note this is based off the two special LM events.)

Flam starts 24. I'm sure Del wouldn't begrudge the extra $725 if 28 cars showed up!

It could be argued a couple different ways. If you finish at the bottom of the pile at Flam, you get 350, compared to 200 at Del.
Winner at Del doesn't get as much, but bottom half of the top 10 pays better than Flam.
Six of one / half dozen of the other?
I still want to know how title sponsors factor into the payout though.
Ultimately, only the racers can really tell you what makes them want to go one place and not he other.
All I can say is that Delaware requires you to bring your A game. If you're gonna win Delaware you need to be fast.
