Not sure what the benefit is of qualifying this way. It would seem to me that if you have 8 guys on the track, pushing to the ragged edge for a good qualifying time, that might be asking for trouble. May as well just do heat races. But that's minor I guess.
So basically it boils down to a 200 lap race with a likely competition caution at lap 100. I can live with that. ;D
Maybe Delaware will let us know the format a day before the race and at the same time how to get advance tickets.
They handed out the race format sheet when I picked up my transponder last Friday night.
I can see three at a time like Dirtcar does with mods or WOO late models (and this just times them into their heats, not the feature). 8 at a time will be disastrous if the cars get too close to each other for a decent lap time.
I believe Shifty333 said they'd be running 10 minute sessions - a lot
of road racing time trials this way (even NCATS did at Mosport, although
they divided them into 2 groups - fast and slower). DIRTcar times them
for only a few laps. I can still see in a 1/2 mile there will be conflicts...
