Delawares Rules for the enduro class

I'm thinking the complaints here are from V8 guys on a really low budget vs the high-dollar V8 guys, not the 6-or-Less cars.  And their argument, that the V8s have moved away from a "traditional" Enduro is absolutely true... But it's not the "main" problem with Enduro and it's not the "main" argument with where the division is going in the future.

I suggested last year when this topic was all the rage (and so did Dougy) that having multiple CLASSES running at the same time was the solution.  And as notingtolose points out, Delaware listened, they did it, and I think it's great.  He won a 6-or-Less class, a nice trophy, got an interview, and really that's what this is all about.  But you've got to wonder how many people even knew about it.

I DON'T think Enduro is broken. I think encouraging more guys to run 6-or-less cars is the #1 goal... Then who knows, 5 years from now, V8s will be phased out because running the slower classes is so much cheaper.  Let the three or four high-dollar V8 Enduro guys run themselves into obsolescence. USE the multiple class setup to cultivate fans and bring in new teams.  Announcers, program writers, website editors, TALK more about the 6-or-less class, talk about a truck class, talk about an import class, whatever it takes to remove some of the focus from the pseudo-Super Stocks running at the front.  I guaran-damn-tee you 98% of the fans in the stands don't even know there's multiple classes racing in an Enduro.

Hell, while we're at it, let the Bone Stocks ALSO run in Enduro under 6-or-Less rules (if they're close) to boost car count.

I know this solution kinda sucks for guys at the "back" of the V8 "class," but that's the way racing is headed.  If you want to run a V8/RWD car these days, it becomes more and more specialized, because parts are scarce.  So why not move the whole division in that direction?

Thanx for those Snot! That brings back memories ;D Got any more? What is that outside the wall in the last picture? A generator and a stuffed rabbit???

Tiger you are correct. I was one who touted the 'Grand Am' type deal as well as others and Delaware listened. You are correct though that that part is not hyped enough. Still think they need to go back to 250 laps. Get some attrition that way.

Yetti pretty much explained all racing divisions.

Why do tracks lose cars ?
Unequal tech inspections and constant rule changes cost everyone money, from the little guy to the big guys.
Specific track rules are another thing that chases guys away. No body wants to be held hostage by a track to only run there. You can't just up and go to another track because your car is either over or under the limits for somewhere else.
Politics is another problem, There can't be favourites, and you can't treat the new guys like shit and like they are an intrusion.

It would be interesting to hear from everyones home tracks. are numbers up or down. If numbers are dropping then there is a definate need to listen to the guys who put bums in the seats. The Car owners and Drivers.
I think the only track that has increased numbers this year is Ohsweken ( I know dirt is different than asphalt) They have been getting 30 plus cars in the Sprints and Thunder Stock division most of the year and avg 24 Mini stocks a night.  There is 4-5 pavement cars who run Ohsweken Fri and asphalt Sat. They must be doing something right to draw guys from 2-3 other tracks on a regular basis, and it ain't the money.

Hard work has never kept guys away from the track, but spending money constantly to run mid pack will eventually make a guy decide spend the farm or quit. The wife will usually let them know which is the best solution.

I think that the marine intake is a great idea no drilling out heads or hogging out intakes.  i no for a fact that the marine intake is heavier then a stock cast iron one.  if you read the enduro rules it says no engine modifications.  So if you drill out the heads or hog out the intake you have modified the engine.  How ever the marine intake is not a stock gm part.  So really any one who has a built motor with vortec heads has violated the rules.  The 32 guys should not have been penelized but allowed to run the rest of season since it took delaware half to three quorters of the season to make a decision about the intake.  The reason why they are allowing the hogging of the old style intake is because they would lose half to three quorters of the feild.  The marine intake is a good idea to bring racing into the 21 century instead of being stuck in the 1970's.

Yetti69 sounds like u know a lot but in accualatie I'm not sure you do the rules say u can run vortex heads with the old cast intake. I understand where racefan33 is comming from if tech wants u to run those heads then they should be able to run the marine intake. It's just good smart business spend 350-400 a head (800 all together) or run a 200 part that u can find anywhere? Marine intakes or not rules are rules so if not letting marine intake in they shouldn't let machined heads in so really unless ur running a FI motor u shouldn't be aloud to run vortec heads plain and simple. Really it comes down to if the track wants 2 more cars or not!!!!!
