Wouldn't the simplest way to slow the cars down, make them more affordable, etc. etc. be to do it with tires? Didn't a base metric GM come with something like 195/75/14's on it?

So go ahead, build/buy the biggest engine you want; if that's all the tire you get, wouldn't that tend to level the playing field?

Yep a crate motor will have more power than an eighties 350.  Solution, don't be a bone head and use an eighties 350 (there are many other options).

Every time the enduro discussion comes up it usually deals with people mad that they don't win, and that its not fair because they think the winner is cheating.  Guess what, I don't think that its fair that the Toronto Maple Leafs have never won the cup in my life time, but they are not that good, and probably will never win.  (the other teams must be cheating... that's the only explanation)

That tire rule has been the same for years.  In the early 90s through the early 2000 the most common tire sizes were 215 70, 225 70 and 235 70.  There was a large abundance of those sizes.  Also most cars have 2 or 3 different size tires.  most likely one of these sizes was available on the cars in the 70's and 80's weather it would be a 14 inch rim or 15 inch rim.

It's pretty simple, enduros were started for the same reason they have started the bone stocks. Bone stock means bone stock, don't recall anything coming factory stock with a 602 crate in it. or marine intakes. There is one way to stop 3-4 guys from winning every night in the enduros. If tech doesn't do it then you do it yourself. I'm not condoning this but it is an enduro which is in all aspects a full contact sport. Just make sure they don't finish.
It has been done before, I remember one given night in the 90's a certain camaro was pretty much dominating the year untill 4 or 5 guys decided not this night and turned that car into a 3 500 lb pin ball.

We get black flagged for "overly aggressive" contact now. So that should be a good indication to what Enduro has morphed into.  :-
