Trucks put on a good show. It was good to see the 17 out front for that long Mickey! If it would have gone green you would have had a top 3 I think. The 55 was the best truck and won with the 33 close behind.
The OW Mods were the best show of the night by far. Three car battle for the lead the whole race with good battles through almost the whole field.
The SLM were disappointing. Green laps were 1 at a time until they decided that they couldn't handle double file restarts. With the single file restarts the 49 spanked the field with the 9 of Watson his only competition. There was a very weird incident with 4 cars before the green flag even flew on the backstretch. If anyone saw what happened let us know. Also the incident with the 27. Somehow he ended up on the tires on the backstretch under caution in one of the heats.
I do have to say though that it was good to be back at the track since I haven't been out since preseason practice. Any racing is good racing. It was good to see you Trevor and glad you are well on the road to recovery.

I really like the SLM's, but that was a terrible show. Aside from the constant and mindless cautions, the show simply was not very entertaining. Starting the fast guys at the front meant very little racing action for the fans to cheer about. For better entertainment value, it would have been much better if they'd done some kind of inversion or started the fast cars further back in the field. Thank goodness for the 10 car - at least he was fun to watch as he worked his way forward . . .
I have no idea what a show like this costs, but overall, I didn't see much there that would make me want to have them back if I were the promoter.

Yeah it was a pretty good show. That modified race was awesome....some pretty hard nosed racing between Demelo, Newman and 8-McLean with McLean actually coming out on top.
Never would I ever have thought that Jamie Cox's 3 modified would languish at the back the way it did. Unfortunately those guys pulled in pretty much as the anthems were playing, and didn't get to dial in the car at all. In fact, to my eye, it looked like they may have been on old Powerade modified tires.
Yeah, the Super Late Model race was a little disappointing. Its too bad. The good runners, like both Watsons, Jeff Hanley, Clarke, Kennedy, Temeirsma etc don't have a problem getting around Delaware, but the back half of the field always seems to look like the horsepower-to-talent ratio is badly out of whack. (Maybe because they usually race on smaller tracks?)
But when you have 23 really loud, fast, and cool looking cars wheeling out for the feature, and you're thinking "whoa this is gonna be one for the ages", its a letdown when they have 4 cautions in the first 4 laps. And a couple of them were biggies that took a long time to clean up.
Regardless, it wasn't too bad a show once they got a few green flag laps in. Clarke took them to school for sure. It was only too bad Brandon Watson didn't have a little more for him at the end. Battle of the night was actually for 4th between Jesse Kennedy and Jeff Hanley. They swapped back and forth a couple times toward the end and might have even swapped a little paint.
Hey it was a pretty good night for me though. I was flying solo at the track so I had the chance to wander around and say howdy to a bunch of people.
Highlight of the night for me: Was standing up in turn 4 jawing with Gary Brooks when I noticed what looked like a familar face off to one side of us. I looked a few times, then said to Gary, "Look over your right shoulder and tell me if that isn't Earl Ross sitting beside us on that golf cart."
He looked and said "I believe you may be right. Let's find out" so we went over and sure enough it was him. Handshakes all around and short chat with my childhood hero.
It was a good moment. And a pretty good night all around. 🙂
I had a great view of the #27 Roy Passer accident. Something broke in his steering off turn 2 and his car was aimed directly toward that tire barrier. He was standing on the brakes and it was a very very very slow accident. It was like slow mothin, and he hit that tire barrier and the car was completely nose up in the air and landed on top.
That truck race was entertaining, I thinking Mickey could have won it if we didnt have that caution halfway through. But Gary has been dialed in all year and it looked almost effortless once he was able to get caught up.
It was my night off last night, and I was overwhelmed by all the well wishers last night. felt really good to be appreciated by some of the fans in the stands.

You could be right about Mickey being able to pull off the win without a caution there Jared. For a part time effort this year he has done pretty good. Problem is that his truck has a tendancy to get really tight in the long races. When I was helping him out last year we tried to fix that and it looked like toward the end of the year he was getting close, after I was unable to 'help' him anyways LOL!
In the SLM what is the story with the 3 car? Looks like a LM, but it is offset like a SLM. It looks like a fairly new body but as I say a LM.
