FYI - The stands did not empty after the ISMA race. Sure some people left, but most people stuck around.
I said "somewhat". I did not say everyone left.
Running touring series features first, especially on a makeup day/Sunday - and ESPECIALLY when it has already rained and there are storms in the forecast later - is common practice at most tracks. It's not going to change, and it shouldn't.
Well I am thinking you're not a Delaware regular, and you have your opinion and I have mine. Both sides are valid - trust me, we have been on the losing side of a double feature night and it really hurts for your season points standings. The point standings do matter to the regular teams that put on a race show week in and week out. Know this is racing, but this year the number of double features has been greater than any other season so thought it might be nice to weigh in on the side of the home team on this one. We have been part of a travelling series and I understand exactly where you are coming from.
As it turns out, all the racing was able to be completed so no harm and no foul.
😀
Well there we go. Great reporting folks...always nice to know you can count on the CRO faithful. (Especially you Crazylady :-*)
Appreciate it guys.
I think its cool that the 61 won. If I'm not mistaken, he pretty much stunk the place up on Friday night.

No, I'm not a Delaware regular...just someone who works in racing and has been to 50 different race tracks all over North America...so I guess my opinion doesn't count for much... 😉
I used to be there at Delaware a lot when I was a kid, but now I work at another weekly Friday night track (Ohsweken). Believe me, I know what it takes for weekly racers to get to the track every week, and I know that a lot of the time they get the shaft when touring series are in town...
If you like, I'll get you Vern Romanoski's phone number and you can call him up in Strong, Maine and explain to him why his 2,500 kilometre round trip to race at Delaware this weekend could have been all for naught because the local racers don't want to run double features next week.
Also from a track management perspective, they want to get the touring series show in because that is what the fans paid their money to see...and admission wasn't cheap. What if the other divisions had gone first today, and then it rained before the ISMA feature and cancelled the rest of the show? ISMA cannot come back this year to make up the feature due to travel and scheduling...I'm willing to bet there would be a lot of disgruntled fans wanting their money back...and that's bad for business!
Well, i see both sides, BUT the problem lies in the fact that not just the fans paid a lot to get into this race. The Crews of the cars also paid a lot per person, did WE see a purse increase... no, did we get a chance to really watch the great show that I'm sure was put on... no. If we would have gotten rained out, it would have pushed the local racers back to next week to do a double feature, no big deal, our pit admission who knows if it would have been good next week. BUT from what i have seen and heard this year, every double feature that has occured, the division has still only been getting paid for a single feature when running a double feature that night. Forget about arguing about this, it is over, no one got rained out, but i did find it rude that a lot of the ismas were getting ornery to leave even when the local features were going, making it impossible to move in the pits because of large hauler all over the place
none the less a great race
