I actually had an engine builder tell me that these newer ones tend to not hold up. So I may just pop it in, and hope for the best LOL. I do have an older non-shafted engine, but it's a full rebuild. Reason I'm running the 4.3 instead of a small block is basically weight rule, and to keep costs down this year. I do have a 350 I can throw in it, but I want to shake the new truck down, and see how it does trackside first.
The later 4.3s also have the same sort of crappy valve spring the V8 Vortecs have. In general, it's just not a motor that likes to be revved. It does have all sorts of mid-range torque though... I would think it'd be perfectly competitive running around at 5000-5500 rpm at most.
She'd be a beast with all that front end weight running a 350 in it, you need an all aluminum buick V8

What ?? GM makes a "stock" V-6 that can whirl up to 5000 RPM and stay together??? 🙂 🙂 🙂
Ye, been researching it, and same verdict. I will be changing the chain and springs.
