I think they were allowing roller chains cause the stock ones suck and can't handle the rpm
Thanks guys I'll try for next week. I hate to take something so simple out to get it done LOL
theres one of my reasons for not liking that crate....but the price ya cant beat

Does Delaware allow a race team to:
a) Pull Motor
b) Acquire authorized parts from GM
c) do re & re under supervision by authorized engine sealer, who then reseals and documents work completed?
They have been allowing us to upgrade the timing chain to double roller for the Super Stock guys, purely for reliability purposes... But upgrading to the roller requires a little bit of grinding/machining on the boss near the oil galley plugs to clearance it. To my knowledge, at least in Wilcox's case, he only allowed our shop to do it, and only after each individual engine got the "go-ahead."
Is this procedure the same for the V6 4.3? I have one from a 99 for my S-10 for next season. Since I do not need to worry about the crate rule (V6 and Enduro), but the higher end chain would be a good investment. Also, will the stock valve springs take the beating? This engine will have the bottom end freshened. I am assuming the internals are reasonably close to the same grade as the non-crate 5.7's... have been told to upgrade the rod bolts (a given).
depends on the year of your 4.3 Dougy, Later ones are the same as SBC while the newer Vortec are a different animal with a counterbalance shaft in them. If I remember correctly the chain is different. the 4.3 is a bit of a pain in the ass unkess you stick to the older ones
