Good point racer43 car counts you are right.Think the WOO had 11-12 regulars that run the show full time and the rest were fill ins from S.O.S,Empire Sprints ETC.Hopefully ISMA brings big car count because the only other series they draw around here is MSA from Ohio and as was stated before MSM has sanctioned race Friday night.Heres hoping for a field of at least 20-22 cars.
The WoO series currently has 11 cars following the full tour...but there were other very good drivers/teams there that can't be lumped in as "fill ins"...namely Daryn Pittman, Chad Kemenah, Wayne Johnson, Cody Darrah and Erin Crocker.
Other than Darrah (who is still a teenager), each of those drivers has a WoO feature win on their resume, though they are not following the full tour this year...Pittman won the King's Royal last year for crying out loud...
The 3 car team of Tony Beaber, Jack Helget, and Jeff Taylor are also not regulars in this area and had never been to Ohsweken before this week, and the same goes for the Aussie driver Brett Milburn.
The locals definitely added quite a lot to the show and we are lucky to have them, but it's unfair not to acknowledge those drivers I just mentioned.
Forsure Tommy I agree. i didnt mean adding them as field fillers, but it sure helps a show when you can run four 9 or 10 car heats with a B main and a quality dash. They only start 24 in the feature anyway. Heres hoping as racerfan said for atleast 20 or so cars.
I've asked some friends to come to Delaware, especially to see the Super Modifieds. They may wring my neck at the price but a full field of Super's will be worth the admission alone. Usually a show like this won't offer support divisions like we'll see August 7th, so that will be a great bonus.
I understand the cost factor as a concern but when you consider the many entertainment alternatives, this isn't really expensive. Going to a Rock or Country concert is crazy expensive and you're standing there like a Guppy in a Pet Shop with 10,000 like minded fish gazing at the Stars, hoping they will notice you. At Delaware you can go to the pits after and get an autographed picture of your favourite driver, try that at any sports event or concert. Grass Root Stock Car racing is far more fan friendly.
The Supers need car count and the Late Models, who have car count, need to put on a great show. The contrast in race classes for the shows on that week end are awesome...I think it's a good deal.
JTKelly keep voicing your opinion, it helps make our sport better.
Car count does dictate show quality. Each race is different. Is there a battle for the lead, how is your fav doing, who is cutting through traffic, is there a new face in the top 5, which team stuggled to make the green, etc. I over heard at the Ncts race about car count during the race, I however had just watched 4 lead changes by lap 50. Don't get me wrong, a fill field is desired. Just not critical.
Cheer your favs, boo who you wish, eat a hot dog and enjoy the show for what it is, or what you make of it.

Ding ding....we have a winner.
