Ohio group MSA has a race scheduled for that friday night in toledo and only one car from ohio came to cayuga when it was sort of on the way home. Hopefully a few cars will come up for saturday but it's looking more and more doubtfull.

Two ISMA points races in the same weekend will entice more of the franchise cars to show...under the agreement they are allowed to miss one race...some chose to miss Cayuga, but with it being a weekend and two points races, they have a lot more of a reason to show up, as opposed to Cayuga.
I have not heard anything for sure, but it is doubtful Ryan Litt will be on hand.
JTKelly makes some good points and they should be reviewed and considered. She did state clearly that this was a family with a race team. Race teams are already under a lot of severe economic strain these days. I'm not suggesting that Delaware is not sensitive to this issue, they are some of the best managers of motorsports events in the province.
That said, the costs to keep these cars running is getting astronomical. There are no tax breaks (if anything, you wind up paying MORE, if you create a small company to run it) and there are no concessions to get anywhere near back the cost to the average racer what it takes to run a car every weekend at their race track. And THEN there's the family on top of that, coming to the event.
Several times last year I know for a fact that teams simply couldn't afford to go to certain events due to the cost of keeping their cars running plus travel costs and family. It simply didn't make any financial sense to even try to go to some invitationals. I haven't even mentioned the cost of getting the teams crew in yet....and to make matters worse, cost of parts went up this year for everybody. Given the economy, you'd think that some race part companies would have slashed prices, but they haven't and the Canadian Dollar sank like the Titanic before the race season started. The perfect storm for racers has occurred.
Everyone's ticket prices seems to be held in check this year with possibly a few exceptions. I think we all understand why. But the viscious circle still exists : how to increase (let alone maintain) car counts and still have a show that fans enjoy without anyone getting upset. Some events this year have had horrific car counts considering what was envisioned. To be sure, it's not just in Canada, it's everywhere. Hickory Motor Speedway, the most famous short track in the North Carolina had a big invitational for late models and only 14 cars made it to even try to run it. That's how scary it is everywhere........
I think fans know we do it because we love the sport, but there are limits to how far that love goes. As much as fans want discounts, racers need a raise in available winnings - and not just 5 or 10 dollars.....tires alone this year shot past 10% price increase for many classes. That's just nuts for a lot of teams that are often considered "filler" cars for the field. They simply won't be able to afford it and nor will they enjoy coming if the current trends continue.
Our team REALLY wants to come to this years big Delaware invitational - but we simply can't afford it. Trust me when I tell you, if there was spare personal money lying around to do it, we'd be there in a heartbeat. Everytime we try to add up the math with tires, fuel, food, spares, and staying there for the weekend, we watch the cost not stay the same, but CONSTANTLY go up. One year we might make it there. We certainly hope the event last that long to give it a try.
Some great points there.
I'm assuming tkelly didnt go to the Woo show at the "O" either than?? Which was 40 clams aswell. My concern with the supers show at delaware isnt the cost. I think thats the going rate for a show of that caliber IMO. Similair to the Woo show isnt it? Its with the possible low car count. How many sprints would have been at Ohsweken this week without the locals?? I dont know I'm asking. We dont have the fortunate situation with supers running here weekly.
Good point racer43 car counts you are right.Think the WOO had 11-12 regulars that run the show full time and the rest were fill ins from S.O.S,Empire Sprints ETC.Hopefully ISMA brings big car count because the only other series they draw around here is MSA from Ohio and as was stated before MSM has sanctioned race Friday night.Heres hoping for a field of at least 20-22 cars.
