Yetti69, i am only using slm vs ss as an example of why prices are out of whack.
I do know there is no comparison and that is my point.
As for streetstocker33, great to hear that a non mccoll built car done so well, further cements my point that you do not have to have one of his cars.
I sold my non mccoll built 15 year old limited late model that had won 15 features in two and half seasons, finished second in points at the same two tracks in the same time period. And it was sold for $3000.00 and it sure as hell was never a lap down to anyone!
Funny thing is, lost count on how many times i was asked if it was a Mccoll car and when i said no they where not interested, see where i am going.
Racing here in Ontario ( paved tracks ) has a serious problem, it is called cost !
We have mini stocks that are selling for more than some good thunders, thunders (ss) that are selling for more than open or super lates.
We have the new wave here where everything nascar does we have to have it too.
2007 we consistently turned 14.5`s at peterboro with conventional spring , med. bar set up. Five years later times are still 14.5`s to .7`s and guys are spending tons more money to do the same times.
Why do we need big bar, soft spring and bump stop setups on llm, that is why there is pro late or super classes, leave that stuff in those classes and put rules back to not allow that stuff and keep the class going, at this rate all llm will have to switch to pro late and car counts will still suffer, been done before and did not work, why would it work now with economy hurting.
We could tell the person who started this thread to get an enduro but we all know how that has turned out and rest of classes are doing the same.
If you run constantly in the 14.5's in your old car why can't it run with the Big dollar McColl cars that are running the same times?
Because i only choose to run the track i can afford too and i have not seen many Mcoll cars at Peterboro.
I also ran Peterboro because it is close to home, my work comes first , not racing and i can be at Peterboro a lot quicker after a day of work and a lot cheaper than i can if i travel elsewhere.
Oh and i forgot, last i checked, i do not have the talent a lot of those guys have, lol !
Just in racing for the fun but it is getting harder to have that fun because of cost.
I guy does not have to spend a lot of cash to run well in super stock.. just look at the camaros at sunset 17 88 89.. lthose cars run very well and i dont believe they where built at mc cols..
as far as delaware goes for super stock goes they better get
recap tires to keep the cost down.. this summer they had twin 50s..
some teams changed tires after the first 50.. the mc colls car stayed fast because they had new right side tires in the 2nd 50..
at the end of the day the car with the recaps won the 2 grand..

What in the world makes you think those are low dollar cars? They are not as pretty body panel wise as say the 72? In compairson to the HUGE dollar Delaware cars (see JR's SLM - opps I mean SS)? Well you might be right on that last point, but I wouldn't call $15,000+++ cars that you listed "not a lot of cash"..
Sunset has yet to see the McColl SS cars I am talking about. AGAIN there is talk of introducing a spec full tube chassis into Thunder/SS made by McColl. If that happens it will obsolete everything, including those BIG DOLLAR cars.
So what getting from all this is anyone that can't afford a McColl car should just stay home ... Lol
