way off topic here, but why are closed-face sa2005 helmets now mandatory in enduro? so the open-face i bought at the start of next year is crap. anyone wanna buy a helmet?
I love my open face too, but have you ever taken a lugnut to the face?? I have pictures of when I had a bumper shock go through my windshield... that sucked.
If you look at an Aero or a Bert rim you will notice that it is better constructed than a OEM rim. It was designed for the rigors of racing. In my time racing I have seen the centers tear out of rims. This would lead me to conclude that purpose made rims are far better and safer than OEM equipment. Now common sense would dictate that if you can make something safer for the drivers and the fans than that is a good thing. I can't see you gaining a couple tenths if you were comparting an 15" S-10 rim to a Aero...But I might be wrong
all rims must be dot approved except for the right front. a safety rim has an extra reinforced center section and apparantly is not dot approved. budget friendly bassetts are dot approved meaning you can run them on the street. as for making your car faster...i can't see that. i run them because a) they look cool, b) they are safer and i run 5/8" studs anyhow, and c) go to a wreckers to buy rims and if you can find them they want $25 or $30 each. i buy bassetts (bas17473) for around $43 each. simple math.
Well whatever but we have used Aeros for 6 years without a failure, I seen the troubles guys had trying to run wrecking yard stuff in the Street Stocks at Varney when we first got started, we just always used racing rims.
