Stephane Lafrance won his first of the season at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, May 29, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – Cornwall Motor Speedway had a busy night of racing with a complete race program along with a 25-lap street stock invitational on Jim’s Performance Night.

David Papineau was the early leader in the 30-lap Bandit Motorsports Modified feature. A few yellow flags slows the feature in the first portion. David Papineau has some tough customers in Stephane Lafrance and Chris Raabe. Lafrance was able to pass Papineau on lap 7. Lafrance was your leader at halfway point and gets away from the field with Chris Raabe and Carey Terrance. Lafrance led the final circuits over Raabe and Carey Terrance completes the podium.

In the 25-lap Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman, Ricky Thompson was your early leader over Miguel Peterson and Billy Cook. The first 16 laps we done in a quick manner as Billy Cook had issues with his car and the first yellow was out. Thompson leads the way over Mike Stacey and Brianna Ladouceur. On lap 18 restart, Ladouceur takes the lead using the inside lane over Thompson. Ladouceur leads the final laps to capture a first feature this season over Thompson and Mike Stacey.

The 20-lap Tracy Wheeler Pro-Stock feature race saw PJ Peters taking the lead over Kevin Fetteryly and Stephane Lebrun. The race is slowed on lap 5 for Riley McMonagle. Peters was able to resist some late charges from Lebrun and Terry Ladouceur in the final portion to capture his first win of the season.

A fine field of 22 cars showed up for the 25-lap Street Stock invitational as Wade Purchase was the early leader. Wade Purchase takes the lead over Brandon Gregory. Purchase led the first five laps as Gregory hit him and yellow was out. Steve Toomey is now the new leader. Toomey is surprised by Nico Leblanc as Brock Cullen follows in second. At the halfway point, Nico Leblanc was the leader with Cullen and Galipeau. Leblanc has a flat tire giving away the lead to Cullen with only 4 laps to go. Nicolas Gauvreau is the new leader as he led the final laps to capture the win over Jonathan Galipeau et Michael Dillon.

Chris Ferguson is the leader in the 15-lap Polar Sound DJ Services Novice Sportsman. Unfortunately for Ferguson, Chris Zieren had other ideas and took the lead on the 4th lap. Zieren gains a good lead and wins his first feature in Cornwall over Junior Delormier et Mike Evans.

The 12-lap Polar Sound DJ Services Mini-Stock was the first feature of the evening with Steven Quesnel the early leader, he had some company in Skylar Ladouceur who led the second lap with Marc Dagenais running in third. Dagenais uses a restart to take the lead over Bob Ray and Ladouceur. Ray was able to take the lead over Dagenais. Ray never looked back and grabbed his second feature in a row over Dagenais and Ladouceur.

Next week the Empire Super Sprints are back after a 7-year absence at the speedway, the sprint cars will have a 25-lap feature along with a complete race program.
