i hear ya Charlie. Constructive criticism is definately appreciated. It's the straight out bashing and pissing match between 2 local tracks that just doesn't sit right for the positive media that both tracks would like. So Constructive criticize if you must but at least do it in a professional manner.
I do feel that people make a race track and some really great people are around the Speedway this year. We will build up this race track as it once was. All tracks have their ups and downs, it's how you deal with your downs that puts you above the rest.
I realize the need to positvie comments and no bashing, but lets not turn this into a government or dictatorship by locking out every person that speaks there mind.
We don't, nor have we ever. However the post above in question breaks 2 golden rules, the "on-topic" one....which in this case leads into the "respectful" one.
The thread is "Why do we love to race at Barrie" Posting the opposite is neither on-topic or respectful...and is sorta childish and mean-spirited to boot.
But let me add my 2 cents to the thread. I love coming up to the "High Line" even though I haven't been able to recently. What impressed me first of all was the level of racing in all 3 divisons....but I remember being particularly impressed with the TC division. I saw some great races there in all 3.
The announcing was solid and the facility was great.
I love the covered/heated grandstand. That's unique to Barrie.
I loved the feeling of history the place has. Like my own home speedway, there's 2nd and 3rd generation racing families there, as well as generations of fans. I like that I could be sitting next to someone that was present when Hanley and Beiderman brought their wars around the province in the 70s/80s. Guys like Statsman...keeping the faith with his photo pages of old pics showing that race fans can be passionate in a good way too.
I recall seeing all the cars competing in the nights events participating in the opening parade lap. I don't know if thats a tradition or if they even do it all the time, but that's cool.
And I like that you guys have Vokey in your corner throwing the race reports on here after the races! 🙂
Just a couple thoughts on a Saturday afternoon. I don't know what it looks like up there but I hope you's get some racing in soon.
thanks shadowracer for your input. We need more people to post great things such as you did. People need to know that the people who race at Barrie are great people and we have lots of fun. If the word gets out that we all refuse to give up then maybe more people will regain some interest in the Speedway once again or maybe we can attract new people to the track by staying positive and having a good attitude in the hard times that the Speedway is having right now.
The on topic rule almost never gets enforced, so why start now?
I like that they call races early when it MIGHT rain so more cars show up at Sunset. Thats something I really love!
it's the begining of the season and now is a good time to start and there is only 2 of us that moderating the board so it is hard to catch all of them.
Back to the topic at hand
