Scoring and Handicapping

I was unaware of the new points system and I am ok with the feature points sytem. What I cannot wrap my mind around is that there are no points for heat races in both the Thundercar division and the Pure Stock divisions. No Trophy for the winner and the way you finish would not affect the handicapping system. There has to be some sort of incentive for the heat races that the drivers run. We spend money on fuel and we wear our tires in these races, why not give us some incentive for them. Bring back the heat points system for the divisions that run these races. 10 for first, 9 for second and so on as it was before.

If somebody was to start and park there car for the heat races, they would still qualify for the feature but they would not be hurt in the points standings and they would be saving tire wear and they would burn less gas. This should be brought up at the drivers meeting and straightened out. Does anybody have an explanation as to why this is how it is at Barrie Speedway?

LOL just going through the scoring and handicapping section on Barrie's website and it says that if a car cannot start the feature they will be awarded 40 show points. That's more points then i got for 7th. We definately need these rules clarified next drivers meeting.

Ha ha!! Same questions I was asking on the other thread Steeve.. Great minds think alike bud. While I still think the drivers will compete hard in the heats under the current format (based on pride alone)there has to be incentive. By only counting features in the point standings it leaves less margin for error in those races plus you wont see the constant shuffling of postions in the point standings with only the feature counting.. If their gonna do that I'd rather see double features for all classes and no heat races with perhaps an Australian pursuit for some extra cash thrown in the mix for something different..

BTW Speedway website race report is sent in. I'd expect to see it posted sometime tomorrow.. For those that care 😀 😀

I'm guessing that if this system is in place perhaps they reduced the "show up" points if the driver doesnt take the green in the feature..Perhaps 25 or 20 points is the # instead of the former 40.. just a guess and dont know why if thats the case it wouldnt be changed on the website or mentioned at the meeting.. But it never hurts to ask questions
