zero, where you place in heats only matters for the first night of racing and for invitationals. The rest of the time the heat races are used for qualifying into the feature depending on the car count and they are usually also used in your handicapping average to determine starting orders based on how many points you have recieved the previous 3 weeks. The worst average usually starts up front with the best average tailing the field
steve is right...the heats only mattered for points after the first night..but the points went into your handicap too..
THANKS Steve and thayne.Back in the late 70,s and early 80,s when I use to race Every time you went out you gave it your all, heat or feature, points or no points, beleive me it was a blast.I understand with fuel and tires, one has to conserve a bit. I see all you young farts out on the track and guys like myself wish we were each and every one of you. you,s are the future of this sport . SO when you are out on the track maybe thinking of letting up a bit or pulling off after a couple of laps in a heat, think of us watching and cheering for you in the stands and give her that one little extra bit for us. Best of luck to each and everyone of you, from a true race fan, ZERO.
lol, yeah I think my dad still wishes he was out there. It's probably really tough on him to watch his car go around the track from the outside of the cockpit. I'll always give it my all while on the track, just might have to strap on some older tires for the heat races to conserve our couple of good tires for feature time. You'll still get an excellent show from me though all the time.
lol steeve i think my dad's gunna be the same way.. and this year if it's as fun as you guys have been making it sound i think he will wanna get back into it.. i think he just needs some time off it got to serious and not fun last year for him, like he prayed for rain on the way there most weeks..
