Jakes is for sale as far as I know
A challenger class would be economical alternative to late models. The current late models are way overpriced for a thunder car driver to step up to. If you go to fletcher or ward your going to spend min 20,000 for a roller (minus engine, driveline, cooling, seating, fuel cell etc.) nevermind barrie does not have a tire rule. For those with out technical knowledge, the cars become out dated because full framed cars are a:heavy b:you cant get enough rear weight percentage with out being 300 pounds heavy c: most of the trick front end parts dont bolt on stock, metric, camaro, and chevelle front clips. that and most of those cars wont fit the shovel nose low roofline bodys. For those of you saying that they are still running and competitive, i dont really agree with that. If you look at any track the cars finishing at or near the back are almost always stock clip cars. im not saying some people may have them working well, but i dont know of any. i know of two barrie track champ cars and three sunset track champ cars that are sitting not even for sale because they are almost worthless.(I wont name them because if they go to this class, i want to have my pick!) this thread isnt for bashing its for disscusing.
i still say 4 divisions are enough! but if they get rid of a division to replace one then that would be horrible! who knows....if the track decided to get rid of king of the hill and started racing next year at 6pm instead of 7pm, then maybe we would be able to accomodate 5 divisions. But as far as scraping a division I think it is definately out of the question as I have already heard that the track intends to keep the charger division going as it was huge success and it gave newer drivers more confidence and experience to further the development if they so choose to move up divisions in the future. All of these issues should be brought up at the general meeting that is taking place after the race night next Saturday night! The new owners will be taking suggestions at that time to try and make things better for 2008!
That would be a mistake to get rid of a division. some are just as bit by the race bug, but cant afford to start any higher
i hope getting sponsors will become easier to find for drivers at Barrie! then maybe some can afford to move up if they choose to...may take a couple of years for more businesses to get involved though!
