I wouldn't blame the 84 in this one..
I wasn't necessarily blaming him, just saying it was him right behind in the pics... And I asked 99 what happened, he simply just said someone hit him.. that's all.. Trying to put the pieces together on that one too.... And inregards to Steeve's attitude. He's done a full turn around. He is one of the coolest, most amazing guys out there that has treated everyone fairly and with tons of respect. His family, as well as MHM Racing Team are all great people.
thanks for the compliments hype racer! means alot to me when somebody sees me as that type of person. as opposed to last year anyways..lol
I am really not impressed with what was said on here about Steeve. Yes Steeve and I are friends, the reason we are friends is because we HELP each other out. I have helped Steeve and Dave with his race car, and they help me with mine. I'll put it to you this way, without the help of the Melson family, I wouldn't be racing right now... very simple fact. I have seen Dave and Steeve go out of their way to help others, both competitors of theirs and drivers in other classes too. I don't know how Steeve was in years previous to this one, because I didn't know him then. I knew Dave a long time ago, for a short period of time, and we have recently reconnected. Maybe Steeve has matured a little bit and learned some patience, like people say. He's a young man, 23 years old, this is how young men are until they find themselves. Steeve is not a whiner, or a quitter, he has the winner's drive and he's had some major roadblocks in his racing program this year and he has come through them all. There are people in the pits who could learn a few things about sportsmanship from the Melson's. I'm quite sure that everyone on here has made mistakes in their life and things maybe didn't work out for them the way they wanted to. So if you have lived the life of perfection and never slighted anyone, ever, in your dealings with others why don't you step up and tell us all about yourself right now. I am smart enough to tell the difference between stand up people (like the Melson family) and people who are blowing smoke you know where... If you want to hold Steeve's attitude in previous years against him for the rest of his life, then it shows how petty and condesending YOU are.
Hats off to Joe for building a race car and coming out to race in this great sport of ours, I wish him well and a speedy recovery. As for the build on his car I'm sure he did the best he could do as a new racer with the knowledge he had at the time. I think it is up to the experienced drivers to take the time and help out the new drivers and offer advice to them and help them any way that they can especially when it comes to safety issues. I know if a new driver came to me who had never raced before and said that they built thier own car that would send up a red flag of concern, not just for the new driver but every other driver on the track including me if I was racing against him. Now I hear, no front hoop, an insecure battery and an incomplete cage ? Guys an incomplete cage is worthless, it's only as strong as it's weakest point ! We veteren drivers owe it to the new drivers to help them so that we all stay safe and keep this sport alive into the next generation. My big question would be WHO put that SAFETY sticker on his windshield when the car arrived there in the first place !!! And Kahnefreak don't worry about comments as I always enjoyed racing with you.
As to Joe Snow and his accident and injuries... I saw the car, I would never have driven that car. But I know what it is like to want to race so badly that you take some shortcuts... And in general I think racers (everywhere) have the attitude "It won't happen to me" and maybe don't take all of the precautions they should. Even I am guilty of this. My firesuit is not the best that money can buy, (it will be by season opener next year), but my helmet is one of the best. My car is overbuilt in the front, and I want to keep it that way... my crew chief suggests going much lighter. It's a big tradeoff... I believe I try to make my car as safe as possible, and then try to be fast. And that comes from someone in the business of safety. Maybe Joe and his supporters didn't do the research, maybe they wanted to get the car on the track as quickly as possible, maybe BSW should up the ante and up the minimum requirements for cages in Charger. I really don't know the answer. I just know a young man who felt the burning inside of him that we all do (to race) is hurt, and we should take the opportunity to assess what has happened here. Not to assign blame but to look at future prevention of this scenario. Someone said "It's okay to make a mistake, but to repeat that mistake and you are a fool".
