Be awsum to drive that little #23
That was exactly what i was talking about. Biscuit 72's picture.
This car is a bit of a proto type as everyone in our class runs fully built 2.3 fords . The club allowed me to try a basically stock 4 valve aluminum head zetec as a possable kind of crate motor for the future. the stock engine was fuel injected but was changed to a 2 barrel holley to keep the electronic trickery out of the picture. I made a oil pan, header and intake and after some tuning of the intake it can now run with the full out built 2.3,s and has won a feature.
I don,t think this is the type of car you guys had in mind but if you did i,d come and run Barrie every chance i got
I know that isn't what some people have in mind, but as I was trying to explain it's what they are going to get if they want to keep going faster with the four cylinders. You can't have stock bodied four cylinder cars that are faster than your higher classes. Some of the four cylinders are not very far behind Thunder Cars right now. A 4 cylinder with a full body should not beat a V8 that is gutted, and is allowed to make more suspension adjustments than the four cylinder. The four cylinder classes are starter/economical competition classes and if you don't agree with me, then talk to the track. That's why the rules are written the way they are. If you want to go faster, then this new class is the solution (like biscuit72's car from Flammy).
Now if you guys like that idea, you have to get 15 or 20 serious people together and go to the track management.
I know it is going to cost quite a bit of money but there is no cheap solution here. Either move up to Thunder Cars or suggest a class like this to the track. I don't think they would see much of an advantage to giving you guys what you want right now, because it would make another class look bad, and they certainly don't want that. Plus think about it from my point of view, I have thousands invested in Thunder Cars and parts, and say they came along and said, we are going to allow Big Block Chevy engines next year. All my SBC stuff would be pretty much worthless. And my car is slower than yours and I can't do anything about it. And it shouldn't be that way.
If you want to go faster this is going to be what you have to step up to. You have to lose the stock body. And it will cost a lot of money, because now you are into fabrication, big adjustabilty, race tires etc... I love the idea actually... but it's you guys who will be running them. I'm in Thunder Cars for at least the next few years.
Once again just my opinion...
I would be in for a Mod 4 class, I think its up to the guys that want to do this. If you don't want to race this class don't. The rules would have to be gone over in a meeting with the guys that want to run it. If we were faster than Thunder cars thats too bad. If there is enough people to do this then go for it. Rules aside who would sign up for this class. If you run headers in this class there will be no need to take the cars to expensive custom exhaust shops anymore. Face it Late Models seem to be getting a little boring, I have seen the crowds thin out an awfull lot after the Thunders are finished racing for the night. Track needs some new things going on, in my eyes this could get bigger as you move along. I think for carb. rules everyone needs to be using the same one. The ride height rule at 4 inches needs to be able to be adjusted if you cut springs down to that height they may bind up on some cars. If you want to go faster you need to have adjustable brake bias. and adjustable suspension.
