Don't worry about what was said about how you wrote your post Shawn, I understood it. Besides the comment was made by someone who has to post on every topic, even though none of them are relative to him.
I think the intent of getting rid of heat points was the value was too much for heats, and also people who were racing for money and not points were taking nights off to improve their starting position. Is this going to be addressed and what do other people who race at Barrie think about this?
I think feature results should be representative of the season. But if everyone can agree to a small points award for heat results, I'm okay with it.
see you don't neccessarily have to have heat points if you use your heat finishes into the handicapping for the 80% or so of the field. That way heats will actually account for starting positions in a heat race.
On the other hand it would be nice to get something for the heats other then that. Doing the points based on car count gets kind of odd. Let's say you have 15 cars, you start last and you win, you would only get so many points for passing everyone on the track. then the following week theres 16 cars, the guy who starts on pole and doesn't pass a car wins and he is awrded more points. This in my opinion shouldn't happen. Should be the same amount of points always for finishes in both heats and the feature. A win is a win. You cannot really penalize a guy points because he won with 1 or 2 less cars in the field. This is why I say it should be the same always. It would be terrible to lose a championship by 1 point and the difference comes from a guy winning a feature with 1 or 2 more cars in it then the one you won. Anybody get my point on that.
But there are some valid points and I am glad that theres a discussion about this issue because it definately needed to be addressed. I think the ideas are headed in the right direction. getting more feedback will definately help.

No no don't get me wrong features points won't change. Were only thinking of the heats and how the points will be handled there. The way the points are right now i believe you get 50 points for winning the feature correct? From last year which was 100 and 10 points for a heat win. If that's the case that's means that the heats it self will also have to be cut back. So would 5 points for a heat win with points going downwards to 5th place seems more respectful?
As for dealing with people sandbag. The pill idea will deal with any and all sand bagging what so ever in both the pure stock and the thunder class. People that draw closer to the top of the pill will have a better chance of being up front and as we all know Pills pulling is totally random so no one can be bias on how it's operated
(side note- we already use how you finish in your heat to determine where you start in the feature but it's put together with the handicap from the last 3 weeks.)
that's good to know that the heats are already included in the handicapping. I did not know that.
I would say 5 points for a heat win would be fair and going back to 5th place gets 1 point. I would also say that everybody who starts a heat race should get at least 1 point too. so maybe 6 points to the winner and the top 5 in the heats would benefit greater as the rest of the finshers would recieve 1 point. something like that. but were definately in the ball park.
Can you explain in a little more detail how the pill thing would work in with handicapping for features. it's still a little hazy. I have a slight idea but it still seems vague to me. don't get me wrong, it seems like a good thing, maybe a little more clarification could get more people interested in having this implemented.
It's great that your trying to sort it out though.
The term pill draw is derived from open wheel racing where we use pills to meter fuel flow in the return the number being the size of the opening just like a carb jet. Pills were used because everybody carried a wide assortment and it was easy now allot of tracks use numbered pokerchips but they still call it a pill draw. This bropuight to you by the guy who wouild draw pill 60 if there were only 50 pills lol
