a buddy has a 3/4 finished neon and I saw a fast one advertised from barrie (can't afford) so i'll ask tech advise here, because he is having an issue finding a good ratio
the only trans ratios we can find works out to 7.5:1 in second or a different trans at 5.3:1 in third. 7.5:1 seems a bit high as that would likely put the thing revving at 7500ish (ratio X1000 usually gets you close with 60-14s) and the chip is 6750, not to mention engine life. 5300 likely not enough.
is there a transmission for this that gives more of a 6.5:1 ratio?
these are the only ratios i see available.
2nd 2.13 or 1.95
3rd 1.36
Final Drive 3.55 or 3.94
or are neon guys just revving these things high?
Twin cam ecus chip out at 7200 I think, and my understanding is they run in 2nd with the 3.55 sohc tranny.
I spun 8000 with a 8.05 final in my civic a couple yrs ago I assume the lower final puts you somewhere close to the 7200 limit. Also if you hit it I'm sure the 3.55 and 1.95 2nd would work well
