Oh my gosh! Don I was so excited I started screaming on the green flag and didn't stop till Pete crossed the line! Today I have completely lost my voice (which Rick and many others says is not a bad thing). LOL
You certainly put on a show! Congratulations to Pete Shepherd III and to his fabulous team. Best of luck if you goout east! Keep those feathers and take them with you!
We are truly proud to host the Series and thrilled about your win!
Just thought I would post something positive. Now You can post the story about the Feathers. We wont race without them. They did come from the property of Barrie Speedway. This story needs to be written in the Native history books. I am a believer.
Thanks.
Thank you Diane for listening and providing feedback. I do realize there are many factors into keeping such an event as organized as possible and professional looking especially when good ole mother nature throws a big red flag on the proposed race date. It is nice to see that track promoters do actually listen and try and explain as best they can when a situation arises. My main confusion was that we had to wait out side the track when the practice was going on. It just would have been nice to get in and watch (sorry I'm a racing addict.lol). I did also realize that the fan entrance was opened early as I was first inline when you walked past at 11am as I had just finished checking the barrie site on my phone and catching up on practice times on twitter. Hopefully for future events I won't have to worry about weather affecting racing schedules but that probably won't happen until they invent a dome which can be put over a track to block out such weather so I won't hold my breath.
Yetti and Lefturn, the track was already making money a greater percentage of profit off my ticket purchase since we were only able to go in and watch the race only due to the cancelling of the regular day of Barrie racing series and no practice. I just would have been more willing to spend more money if i was let in sooner as I would have had to feed myself and guests attending but since we weren't able to get in sooner we just ate outside the event. Oh well onto the next race and if it happens again maybe they will consider it.
Thanks for posting DWfan4ever. I don't know where to start. I don't know why Burl's creek had no one in the parking area and will find out. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
You posted directly below the times posted for the gates opening. They were also posted on our website (official site to go to first) and facebook and here on CRO. Frankly we forgot about twitter.
With that said it is not about the $$$ on a rescheduled rain out, it's about caterers, security people and staff that have to find sitters and re arrange their schedules, find rides in order to come back the next day (very similar to what fans have to do.) We published the time that we could get 40 people back to the track to open. I will say that when I saw the line up of about 20 people at 11am I opened the Gen adm myself. So you actually got in earlier that what we had posted. You can't just open the gates and say "come on in, there's nothing to eat or drink but have a good time."
NCATS sets the schedule and we as promoters work with that to make the day happen but you can't pull staff out of thin air and you can't do everything yourself.
I guess that's what we all get for loving an outdoor sport. We thank all the fans for re arranging their schedules and coming out to see what turned out to be a great race. Only mother nature wants to turn right we we all want to turn left! LOL
RIGHT ON THE MONEY DIANE!!!!
