harry, yes, and totally in agreement on this, now if we could get owners and promoters to see what we are talking about we might see more cars out at these events.
All someone needs to do is bring to owners / promoters attention and I am sure something if possible will be done. The new owners are the most flexible, easy going people you will ever meet and will do whatever to make the sport successful.
hey dave, as it stands right now i will be up there for that race. not sure about your idea of letting open lates in though. quite a difference in cars in my opinion, but if things could be worked out to make even playing field then it would allow for a bigger showing of cars, and i am all for that.
Great to read your still on planning on making the trek for this one Hitman..And I kinda agree with allowing the open LM might not be the way to go for this inaugrial event.. I was just really spitballin after seeing the great field Sauble attracted over the weekend for a similiar type race.. With Delly and KD running the night after, its highly unlikely any cars from those tracks would show anyways.. Perhaps if the open LM cars were allowed you might of seen a barnstormer or two like McWhirter, but to change the rules now based on attracting 2 or 3 more cars might not be the way to approach it..As I mentioned I do think its do able in the future to have the open LM running with the LLM at events like this.. The Delly cars might be the exception as they seem to have a bit more jam as opposed to the Flammy cars and the ACT KD style cars.. That said, I'm sure if they got Gordie out testing both his Barrie car and the Delly LM they could come up with something rules wise for next year..
Got me wondering if the #43 LLM of Darin Malcolm also might make an appearance for this one as his father Brian was one of Garry's toughest rivals throughout the late 80s when both spent time in the 8cyl division.. Would be great to see Darin show!!! Classy guy and competitive car!!
I'm also hoping we will see the Sunset Super Stocks that are already registered at Barrie ( Davey, Monette, and Archibald) come race with out Thunder guys and gals for this one.. I know #44 Dave "The Deuce" Doucette is already confirmed for this race as well.. Has the potential to be a stellar evening of racing if you ask me....
Which leads me to my next question:: Are the Barrie LLM cars being awarded "home track show points" to ensure they attend?? I'm guessing as Don suggested most of the Barrie cars will show anyways out of respect for Garry and family but I was curious if show points are being alloted..
I'm also guessin we might see the 35 of Kamrath and 8 of Parker in the field from the Sauble, and perhaps even Crumbie, Robb, and Weber from Varney.. Perhaps even Kent Nuhn might show as well as he was a former Barrie regular in the late 90s early 2000 time frame..
Sounds like a great night, and on a regular off day! Good call BSW! You have my girl and I checking this one out for sure!
Well hello all!! I would love to attend this event, but my wife is due anytime around the 25th. Maybe I will get lucky and the little Malcolm will be early. The car is pretty much race ready, but I could be racing to the hospital any day, so for now its stayin in the garage. :-
