hey dave, as it stands right now i will be up there for that race. not sure about your idea of letting open lates in though. quite a difference in cars in my opinion, but if things could be worked out to make even playing field then it would allow for a bigger showing of cars, and i am all for that.
Just looked at the payout for this race, and I still can't believe that the track promoters around Ont. think that if they put all the money in the top 5 that they will get a good car count. It will cost every LLM driver at least $700 to run this event (4 tires entry fee's and fuel). So in this case if you don't finish in the top 5, it will just cost you $$$. $1,700 to win...sure thats great but????
harry, i have talked to some old time racers and some tracks back in the day paid out more for their races than we get paid now. i wondered how that could be until i seen pics from some of those races and man, where the grandstands packed. also keep in mind a lot of theses tracks ran wednesday, thursday or friday specials and then their regular saturday night show with the same big crowds,so tracks could pay more back then.as time has went on there are now so many different things to do it is hard to get those type of crowds out. also, calibre of racing has changed, cost keep race cars at home which also keeps fans away, so in the end we get the payouts the tracks can afford. as far as gary reynolds memorial race, i know in my book it will be more about respect to gary and his family than the money. truly a great racer who is missed.
The total purse $$$ can stay the same, but all I'm saying is spread it out so the racers can go to the track and not break the bank to do so!!
I'm not just talking about this event but seems like all Inv. are like this??? I look at this payout and see at least $500 off the top to spread out and it wouldn't keep any cars away because of the pay structure. Just sayin!!
