why not do the qualifying for the top 8 on Sunday as well? This will give cars that are running for points on Saturday the chance to come out and race Sunday. You may see a few less cars because the schedule shows qualifying on saturday. even though it is 8 cars that are locke din, it still might hurt.

If they have enough cars for 3 qualifying heat races, does that mean more that 8 cars are locked in from time?

If you are a car outside of the 8 fastest cars in Ontario, its a waste of time going to qualify. If you are one of the 8 fastest, you are going to make it from the heat race to the feature regardless. Only the first two rows, at most, be heat, so who cares?
