+1 Leonard.
I too agree that Sunset looks awesome, but I agree with Tex as well as I grew up at Barrie Speedway and that feels like home. I would also love to race Sunset though, but as some of you said, it's $$$$ saved that makes up my mind on where we race. Darryl St Onge as Race Director sounds awesome. Is there truth to that?
anyways going on the point of winng a race or a championship, to be honest it doesn't matter who is in the race when you win or who ran for the points all year. What matters is winning no matter who your racing against. It's sweet victory no matter what. For example when I ran in the Charger division in 2007. Some people thought that class was a joke but it was fun all year long and winning 8 races that year with 3 Features was an awesome feeling for me. Whether your in a low division or the top division it's sweet victory when you cross the checkers in first no matter who your racing against. JMO
+1 chris, sunset is awesome and dilley and crew have worked wonders. probably the nicest in ontario, but $$$ dictates where you go. 5 min drive or 50 min drive?? ::) i'm still going for the invi's unless some sponsor $ comes my way!
Jim i thought you were headed south with the rest of the fast guys ? You ran great at the old Sunset and there is no doubt you would be just as good at the new Sunset . I cant believe that your not going to run at what you say is " probably the nicest " track in Ontario to save 25 bucks a week on fuel .
Some people have suggested that a couple of Barrie drivers decided to stay after they knew all the hot dogs where leaving for Sunset . I would never say it but some have said that certain mid packers saw this as there big chance to shine .
Championships are funny things some mean a lot and some mean f all , it all depends on who you beat .
i could list a thousand reasons right now, or perhaps thousand$. the talent pool is deep at barrie and its deep at sunset. i'm sure both tracks will do well. my intentions were to race sunset, as i really have fun there but i'm racing this year on about $6g's less of a budget, that is huge. i will still bring some fun and challenges to the invi's and some poor buggers down south. ;D but unless my sponsor shows me some dough, i'm very limited. winning at barrie won't be easy and thats a fact!!
Yes its true Darrel is the new race director. +1 Jimmy
+1 Leonard, I could not have said it any better....and I tried a few times before! Losing Darryl, Quag and Dave are huge losses, but lets not forget where the other guys stacked up...did we have anything for Dave and Darryl last year? I think we proved that we didn't....they won everything....BUT Look at how GOOOOD they were....Dave took a banged up car (bent ball joint, control arm and tie rod end and won the whole damn thing at fall colours...and Darryl won everything everywhere he went last year....they were the fastest guys PERIOD....doesn't mean us 'leftovers' can't put on a good show...I think the racing will eb better personally as we all showed how close we were to each other last year....I dont see any runaways this year....
some may say the racing will be better....because as far as I am concerned Dave Doucette and his "Grave Digger" ride will be just as tough to beat at Sunset....
We wil have a fun year this year...lots of clean racing last year with very few cautions and I see the same thing this year...
It's pretty bad that you are making us defend our class, but on your off night come out and have a gander....yes I said Gander....I am red neck after all.
