my thoughts about Sunset not upping the purses yet are due to the fact that they spent oodles of money re vamping the Speedway. I am sure they will increase the purses once they make some of that money back that they spent making the track better. Plus they have more cars to pay out so I am sure that factors into the equation. We will see how things go with the increased payouts. But definately great news.

They way one Sunset owner described his investment to me was, "it's the same to me as paying a yearly golf membership." To me that says it all...its expendable money for them and they really aren't in a huge rush to get it back..this guy seemed to like having a great facility that he could show off to his friends and family more than getting money back...when I asked him if he was concerned on return of investment he shook his head, smiled and said "play money"....

To me, if the Barrie ownership took this approach it would be better for the track, unfortunately there isn't 10 of them, theres 3...so the play money is a much larger sum.

I do know that Whelen wasn't to pleased Saturday night with the lack of cars in the pits... and I saw Howie talking to a few people after from whelen and it wasn't a real jokey jokey looking conversation...

who knows the motives, just glad it has happened!
