This is clearly a departure from the Barrie brain trust's position that they would not subsidize the speedway in their efforts to sell it . While this is in deed good news for the tracks current competitors , anyone with a shed of business acumen has to question the sustainability of Barrie's new fiscal policy . Sitting at a meeting with Mark Dilley he explained that as much as the track would like to increase the purses for each class that it was not viable and still have a profitable track . Now if Sunset with packed grandstands and over flowing pits can't pay out that kind of money and remain solvent , how can the desert that is Barrie Speedway do it for any extended period of time ? The answer is they can't and this is a " lost Leader " in an attempt to sell the speedway.
Will this latest stratagem produce more cars and more spectators at Barrie ? I would think only moderately . For those that do decide to make the switch to grab the extra cash i would suggest you make sure you get paid before you leave the track because you never know when the lights could go out in the pay office up there .

A lot of assumptions will be made but the ball is in the hands of the performers and they have to run with it. Run good responsible races and take care of your sponsors and fans make it the place to be don't drop the ball.
Thayne, in regards to Gord Woods, Him and his son 'raced' four fun for part of a season and thats about it as far as i know. Should be a good contender ???
