Barrie Night 5-- Shepherd Nails The Double

Ok pretty brief report again as I have to head out the door for job #2 soon.. Pretty decent and clean night of racing in the LLM division, as #10 Gordie Shepherd of Oro Station would take home both 30 lap feature wins in his BFI Canada/Montana's Cookhouse Ford Fusion.. 1st feature went caution free, while the second one only featured one early lap 9 caution, when #11 John Gaunt and #8 Dave Lewis got together while racing out of corner 4.. Nice to see a larger crowd on hand tonight (best turn out of the season to date) after I was slightly disappointed in last night's crowd considering the events going on next door at Burl's Creek..In the first 30, it was Shepherd moving immediately to the lead, with pole sitter #55 Steve Quesnelle slotting into second, just ahead of the 8 of Lewis.. On lap 4, Lewis would make his move getting to the inside of Quesnelle racing into corner 3, to inheirit the runner up spot.. One lap later, Quesnelle would continue to get shuffled further back in the running order, as #2 Mike Brown and #57 Ron "The Dominator" Quesnelle were also able to negoiate their way past.. By this point Shepherd was out front by a half straightaway, completing laps in the 14.7 sec. range. Over the duration, Ron Quesnelle would complete an inside pass of Lewis between 1&2 with 6-7 laps remaining to take over the runner up post.... At the finish it was Shepherd taking his first win of 2011.. Ron Quesnelle finished a steady 2nd, with Lewis, Brown, and #11 John Gaunt the remainder of the top 5.In the 2nd 30, it was pole sitter #54 "Raging" Randy Bull moving out front, after an intense door to door battle with Steve Quesnelle from the onset. On lap 3 the car on the move was the 11 of Gaunt, as the former NCATS and Hooters Pro Cup driver would complete an inside pass of Quesnelle to claim 2nd in the running order.. Quesnelle's woes wouldnt end there however, as he got trapped to the high side and in turn was passed by the trio of Lewis, Shepherd, and Ron Quesnelle.. As mentioned the only caution flew on lap 9, when Lewis and Gaunt would make contact between 3&4.. The result of this sent Gaunt for a spin on the exit of 4, with Lewis sent arrears and Gaunt being given back 2nd place positioning.. This set up another Gaunt/Bull battle from the front row, oddly enough the same scenario that played out one night earlier.. This time it was Bull powering out front in his gorgeous Randy's Tree Service and Landscaping Camaro SS, while Gaunt fell back into the clutches of Shepherd, who completed an inside pass entering turn one just shy of the midway mark.. The best battle on track at this point was the race for 4th, with Ron Quesnelle really beginning to work over Lewis for that position, while Bull now had his mirror full of the 2 of Mike Brown..Over the duration, Brown would finally pass Bull for 2nd to the low side in corner 3, with Bull soon dropping further back as Lewis and Quesnelle would also find a way around the Haliburton resident..On lap 24, Lewis would make his move for 2nd, completing a pass of Brown entering turn 3 once again, allowing Ron Quesnelle the opening he need to also file past Bown's A&R Disposal Services Dodge.. It was clear nobody was catching leader Shepherd, who was now out front by nearly a full straightaway, as the rest of the front runners were jockeying for positions in behind.. Shepherd takes his 2nd feature of the night, with Lewis, Ron Quesnelle, Brown, and Bull comprising the remainder of the fast five..Once again the best race of the night took place in the OLG Slots at Georgian Downs Thunder Cars.. This race featured a thrilling late race battle with #24 Leonard Johnston and CRO's own #14 Thayne Hallyburton.. Hallyburton, led for much of this one until he was passed by Johnston with two laps remaining on the enterance of turn 1.. Hallyburton, would put in a last ditch effort on the last lap to get inside of Johnston while racing out of corner 2, but it was not to be as Johnston gets his 2nd career feature win is his brilliantly prepared Sprint Cup replica Impala SS.. Hallyburton would cap off a solid point night with a valiant 2nd place effort, as #55 Shawn Goggins, #80 Doug" Shaky" Shakell, and #52 Greg Callow rounded out the top 5..Tough night for 1-2 in the points in this division with defending track champ #12 Jim Belesky being forced to retire early on, after some early race contact with teamate Goggins.. #10 Rick Walt broke in the heat races, but would manage to finish the feature in the borrowed #17 of Pete Getliffe.. Great gesture by the Getliffe gang to lend their car out so Rick wouldnt take too bad of a points hit..The Pure Stock division would see a first time feature winner as #400 Dan Nolan took the checkered, beating a stout #13 Dave Glaze to the stripe literally by a few inches.. Slow start to this race seen 3 cautions before the race was 5 laps old, but once the field sorted itself out a ...

the out of towners wrecking cars was the comment from the person at the track...lol...
your right they should have called ahead, really just trying to clarify in case there is another rainout...at flamboro and barrie you have to register...at varney you get a grace nite...and at sunset and sauble?

I'm from P'boro, not Flammy. I was just posting over there.
Why would I call ahead? I have a race car, They have a race track,I want to race. I want to race for one night, not the championship. Last year when we got rained out one night, I showed up at Barrie and they said glad to have you, thanks for choosing Barrie Speedway,pay the non members entry, have fun. Now all of a sudden they have changed the rule without telling anyone. I scoured the website before I left and there was no mention anywhere.
Then to be told its because they don't want me wrecking Barrie cars?
Sounds like last night you cats did a fine enough job of that without my help.

TRACTOR, in fairness it has been posted on this board since the middle of last week just what would be required to race this past weekend at Barrie.. (And yes I'm assuming you follow the message boards a little bit if your also on the Flammy site..)Last year as has also been mentioned here in the last week, the former track owners were allowing up to 2 grace nights, and I also mentioned that that wasnt tecnically "the procedure" being a Nascar track.. And with new owners taking over I'm guessing they wouldnt want to deal with any potential insurance issues if god forbid a visiting driver were to get injured while racing without a Nascar licence at a Nascar sanctioned track..

Bottom line you could of phoned ahead as someone suggested and found out for sure.. And it has also been posted here that if you were to get no answer at the BSW office that the call is ALWAYS returned in a 24 hour time frame.. I'm sorry if you felt slighted at all, but really it isnt any fault of anyone at BSW..

In fact we had a Pete mini come up and race this past Sat and he had no issue with paying the 90 bucks.. #89 Cory Horner.. In fact he even told me he was considering a full time switch..

TRACTOR.... Who exactly told you you werent wanted at Barrie cause they didnt want visiting people "wrecking cars"???

ok i can see being a nascar track they might have to follow different rules to keep them god ole boys at nascar happy, but isnt delaware a nascar track?
