Well sorry for the delay guys but it was a bit of a rough weekend as I was a touch under the weather, and then I had comp. issues for a day or two so my apologies there. As far as the new additions part of the list goes theres lots to be added, but I did receive a PM on here from one of the potential canditates saying it might be prudent to hold off on certain drivers from one track in particular because if I posted what I know, or believe to be the case then a certain track owner *cough* WES might pester these drivers all winter long trying to convince them to change their minds. This brought up a good point to me, and I wouldnt want to turn any drivers off running Barrie in 09 by virtue of anything I post here, so I will hold off on posting about those guys for the time being and just go with the ones I perceive to be safe. OK here goes!!!
#63 Brandon Crumbie -------- Its the worst kept secret in the world that the 2008 Barrie Pure Stock champ will be making the move to LLM in 09. I believe the car is the former Cascar Sportman ride of Cole Weber (or at least a twin car to that one) but not totally sure on that. The young gun has proven to be a talented shoe since day one in the Chevette in 2003, and should be able to hold his own in this competitive field. For evidence of this, and that Brandon continues to improve look no further than his points finishes in the last 3 seasons. 2006 brought home a 3rd place, 2007 it was the runner up spot, and Brandon capped that off with the track title in his 6th year in a Pure Stock this past season!! Yep thats steady progression and it shows the time is right for him to make his mark in LLM. The early season favorite for 2009 Rookie of the Year in my opinion.
#36-38 OSS driver Al Lebert -------- not a driver that I know alot of his resume personally, but one I'm pretty sure will call BSW home in 09. Al has recenly moved from Windsor to the GTA and BSW is his fav track to compete at from all accounts. Looking to better things in the future, if he can find the sponsorship NCATS is in the works so it would stand to reason Lebert might want to run Barrie, a track the NCATS races twice per year at in preparation for this. The owner of 3 cars (OSS, NCATS, and Delaware LM) look for the Delaware LM to be the one he makes the changes on to compete at the High Line. I will predict an 80 percent chance the hard charging Lebert calls Barrie home in 09.
OSCAAR driver #19 Ed Bowlby --------- been hearing rumblings of late that Bowlby will put OSCAAR on hold for a season or two and jump into the 42 LLM campaigned by Jeff Walt in 08. Makes alot of sense to me, as Bowlby has been a long time member of the Thornborrow crew ( the 42 car's owner) as well has helping several of the 4 cyl guys out as well. Makes alot of sense geographically for Ed as well, as he hails from the Huntsville area and its very financially demanding to travel the full OSCAAR sched living in this region. The 2008 season proved this for Ed who competed in just 2 OSCAAR events after a blown motor at the opening event at Kawartha. Not really sure how much valor these rumblings I have heard have, but due to some of the factors I listed and the fact Bowlby has both LLM expierience ( at Mosport) and also ran Street Stock at BSW in the early 80's I do think its quite possible. So for now its the same 80 percent as Lebert.
This is a shorter list than we discussed Davey...haha...but good play....
