this race never lacks excitement on the final lap; last year door to door to the closest finish ive seen at barrie and this years last lap excitement yet again. As far as the venue it was GREATLY improved from last year
I ask this not only to Barrie Speedway but all tracks that block off such a large area for VIP seating and then it doesn't get used at all or has more empty seats then filled ones.WHY??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I understand needing to have space dedicated to VIP's cause they pay the most to get it and "wine and dine" them. But if the tracks would open up even a small portion of that space to the average fan you might just see a stronger fan base and support for their track and for the series for years to come. I just saw too many people standing in the way of fans that were sitting in the stands and blocking their views doesn't seem fair. Security couldn't handle them and it became a big distraction at Barrie. Give them a place to sit and that problem may go away and everyone can just sit and enjoy the action on the track which is what we all wanted to focus on.
We only had one stand for VIP and it was sold out (500). Many general admissions get there late and prefer to stand. Security is told to move these people on and they prefer to mill around. There were dotted seats here and there but groups seem to prefer to stay together. It's a catch 22 at all venues like ours.
1/8th of our capacity was dedicated to VIP, so I'm not quite sure what the other options would be. Unfortunatetly you just can't please everyone.
Well I'd like to say I was pleased!, and maybe it helped that I was there at 2pm, had no problem finding the exact seat I wanted.
Thanks for a great show, cant wait till next year!!!, 🙂
Hope the show at Kawartha on 24 Sept is as good as the show put on at Barrie....
The Fan!
Are you kidding??? This was likely the worst race I've ever seen... 8 laps caution, 7 laps caution, 5 laps caution, 2 laps caution...Get the drift??? While I didnt see the actual final facts... I'd hazard a guess to say it broke records for both caution laps completed and most cautions... If 150 of the 300 laps were run under actual race conditions I''ll eat my underwear!! Can you say zero meaningful race flow??? If you can you got this one correct...Not to mention they missed who actually got into JR on the last lap totally... If I never see a Canadian Tire Series race in my life again that will be too soon... Maybe I'm spoiled by the NCATS races at Barrie the last 2 seasons but this one was junk with a capital J!!
