You all have transponders, if someone is 3/10ths faster than the whole feild, stick some weight in them. Joe might lay back and finish 2nd in the feature if he knows he'll get 50 lbs, but you can bet in a heat when he's chasing someone down from half a track, he's going to be going balls to the wall and cut some fast laps.
Fuel injection. Now i dont really pay alot of attention to the 4's, but it seems to me guys with injection are very fast. With a injection system you could probably make 50 hp with a computer chip, or custom burnt computer. And the engine is still "stock". if it is an issue maybe dummy the injected cars with a weight penalty. Like 100 lbs to start.
Dont forget, the 4 cyls are a "starter" class. it was meant for guys who didnt have the bucks to race thunder cars, to get out race and have some fun. Now you get people building 2, 3 and 4 thousand dollar engines, and spending big bucks on chassis, fuel etc. The only way to sort it out is to throw weight to the fast guys. If they complain they can race thunder cars, they are spending almost as much racing 4 cyls. Look at what NASCAR is doing to toyota now in trucks and busch. Tapered spacers under the carb, it's like adding weight to them. Toyota did nothing wrong, they just built a strong engine. NASCAR is doing it to equalize the competition and make the racing more exiting for the fans. Barrie could easily do the same with 50 lb blocks of lead.

I don't think very many people would have a problem with opening up the A division to 16 V cars at the right weight . Keep the B division rules just how they are now . I don't see a tire problem with directionals but i would like to see a max of 205 width instead of 215 . Falkens are the hot set up for most cars in a legal H series tire at any price . Add the rule "all tires are subject to approval by tech" so if someone shows up with something exotic they can tell them not to bring them back .
50 # weight penalty for every feature win sounds fair but how about a # 50 weight break if you finish outside the top 10 for 3 weeks ? A reduction in weight minimum to 1800 lbs would be good for some of the smaller displacement cars such as Chevettes Escorts etc etc . I would rather help the slower cars get faster then always try to slow down the fast guys .

i agree....was thinking that this year let the cars that aren't competitive with the honda's weigh less......and also the weight issue it has to be written in the rules that weight will be taken out when it makes the car uncompetitive.....if the rules are dialed in penalty weight shouldn't be an issue, but it is a huge task to do this
or make 2 divisions and split them by make and or model of car....
the bottom line i think is someone needs to do the homework on what cars make what power stock and what car handles better and use weight and LS weight as a handicapper too and share it with the other techmen/track owners...the rules are so different everywhere that it is holding up the evolution of the division and making it difficult to run many tracks for certain cars....who knows if it will be done but i think it can be...only if the owners get on the same page
now...if we do this and adjust all the weights based on stock hp ratings than all engines must be stock.....if a mustang has to have a 4000 engine to keep up to a 3-4 hundred factory engine than something needs to be done for them in the rules to not have to do this.....they need to be lighter too or something in order to calm down the $ being put into them for the sake of the division overall....that really goes for all cars....keeping costs down will keep more people doing it....
there does need to be a travelling 4cyl division that opens the rules a bit.....not a weekly points deal.....
every track seems to be doing what is best for them these days but i will say this....if barrie allows 16v with the right rules they and the division as a whole will benefit in a huge way and the rest that don't will follow suit eventually
cheater unlike another thread i welcome GOOD input from any one your ideas are sound just due to the fact 1 person CAN NOT know all about the 4cyl just due to the sheer number of different manufature's. i also agree with there being a universal rules pakage, however when that happens satan will get frostbite. ::) thanks for all input lets keep it comming mabe we can get somthing going for 2009. ;D
i think all tracks should make a 8 valve class, a 12 valve class and a 16 valve class. Its just about impossible for somebody with say a mustang to compete with hondas. Take notice of the 18 daytona. he is just about the fastest car through the corners but when it comes to the straightaway the hondas drive by.
