Before everyone starts crapping all over this idea, give it time to breath. The way things are going right now, we want to try and include 16v cars at Varney. They have been included on Invitational nights and will need to run 'hometrack' rules.

There are a few variables here as we test the waters of this division at Varney. Here are some of the possible scenarios that may present themselves as we proceed forward to incorporate 16v at the highbanks.

1.) If enough 16v cars show up for Invitational Nights, they will be split into their own division and run separately from the other Stock 4 cars.

2.) If only a few show up, they may be handicapped in order to attempt to even the playing field and, run with the regular Stock 4's.

3.) They may be allowed to run with regular Stock 4 cars but, Stock 4's will be scored separately and, will be rewarded with a "bonus" for every 16v that they place ahead of.

Now, before anyone gets all worked up....undersatnd that we are simply "testing the waters". We do not wish to alienate any of our regular competitors. We are working to find a medium that will accomodate what we believe to be a high demand amongst 16v racers to run at Varney.

Once again, the inclusion of 16valve cars at Varney Motor Speedway is a working model that we will be adjusting all season long.

Thank you.

You already allow the 240's, they make even more power, there should be no different scoring for a 16v car. Every other track allows them. You can only stay in the 80's early 90's for so long. Reality is most vehicles these days are 16v if a four cylinder, and have been for the last 10 years.

You may be right here but, Varney has enjoyed a strong field of Stock 4 cars over the years that are not 16valve. This move may be more out of respect for our dedicated drivers in that we are not pulling the rug out from under them. We may be one of the last racks to allow 16 valve but, if we go all the way with this, it will be done in a gradual timeframe out of respect for our regular competitors that may want some time before building new cars if they so decide.  We also want to give guys who don't feel they can compete with 16v a place to still come out and run.

I don't want to put the cart before the ox but, maybe the 240's need to be looked at in the future as well if it is determined that they share similar advantages. This, of course, is not the official opinion of Varney Motor Speedway, just a personal observation.

Have you got dyno tests on this fact? I know they handle better at higher speeds through the corner, but I believe the horsepower output is very close to others.
