Bathurst 1000
Sunday 09 October, 2016

CRAIG LOWNDES/STEVEN RICHARDS - VF HOLDEN COMMODORE / Car #888

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warm-up - Lowndes/Richards: Fifth (Fastest Lap – 2:06.9680)

Race - Lowndes/Richards: 16th

CRAIG LOWNDES
"The race today was up and down really. The failure with the gear lever link was something no one could have predicted. I think it's the first time it's happened in the category. It was great work from the team to get the car up and running again. We had great car speed towards the end of the race. With the way the rules are written, as we were multiple laps down, we had to keep going to the back of the field during safety cars. It was frustrating we couldn't make our way forward. We cop it on the chin, but for us to have the pace that we did, I think it was fantastic to be able to bounce back after a really difficult and disappointing lead into this race. As a driver pairing, Richo (Steven Richards) and I were strong. We move forward now to Gold Coast and we take a lot out of today."

STEVEN RICHARDS

"At the point of our problem with the gear lever, we were somewhere near the Tekno car, so maybe we could have been somewhere up there, but that's the way it goes sometimes. We've got to regroup, it hasn't hurt us too much in terms of the championship for Craig, so that's a positive coming into the Gold Coast. But what a race!"
