Legendary Australian rockers the HOODOO GURUS and IAN MOSS will headline the off track entertainment at this year's Sucrogen Townsville 400.
Amongst Australia's greatest ever artists, the HOODOO GURUS and IAN MOSS will provide an incredible spectacle for race fans as they perform some of their greatest hits.
IAN MOSS is best known as a member of the iconic Australian rock band Cold Chisel and evolved into a solo artist of the same calibre with his debut single 'Tucker's Daughter' written in collaboration with Don Walker, charting at number one on the Australian charts.
Equally iconic Australian rock band the HOODOO GURUS have produced many chart toppers in their 30 years with instantly identifiable tracks such as "What's My Scene?", "I Want You Back", "Miss Freelove '69" and many more.
The buzz of all the on track action over the three day racing event will be complemented by these Aussie rock legends on Saturday night of the event.
V8 Supercars Director of Promoted Events Mark Perry said the format of the Sucrogen Townsville 400, which includes a top entertainment offering, has proven highly popular with event goers in the past.
"We are excited to announce the rock and race format will continue in 2013, with two iconic Australian rock icons, the HOODOO GURUS and IAN MOSS," said Perry.
"The Sucrogen Townsville 400 is one of the most successful new events V8 Supercars has introduced and with the support of the North Queensland community continues to get better every year."
Sucrogen Executive General Manager Garry Mulvay said bringing top acts to North Queensland was a massive draw card for the event and the region.
"It is fantastic to be a part of North Queensland's largest sporting event, and with big name Australian rock legends lining up beside all the excitement of the V8 Supercars gives the event its 'X' factor," Mr Mulvay said.
Queensland Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games, Jann Stuckey, said the entertainment line-up would add to the excitement of the Sucrogen Townsville 400.
"It is with great excitement we welcome Australian rock legends, Ian Moss and the Hoodoo Gurus, to Townsville in July for the first instalment of a three-part V8 Supercar series in Queensland," said Minister Stuckey.
"The Sucrogen Townsville 400 provides visitors to the region with an additional incentive to escape the winter chill of the southern states with a visit to northern Queensland.
"Supporting major events in Townsville is part of the Newman Government's commitment to foster a thriving tourism industry, working toward our target to increase the state's annual overnight visitor expenditure to $30 billion by 2020."
The Sucrogen Townsville 400 is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of a growing calendar of sporting, cultural and regional events throughout the state.
