What did Walters do to get the DQ?
He came back out onto the track just into green conditions.
Ok, the rule on a green flag is.
"Any car missing the initial GREEN FLAG of any race will not be allowed to enter the race. EIRI"
Key word, initial... So Tom took the initial green flag and left the track...
He came back on the track under green flag, which is legal. If he ignored the flagman thats a black flag. BUT....
Every drivers meeting I've been to the rule is "if you ignore the black flag, we will stop scoring you".
So fine Tom ingnores the black, they stop scoring him, but he already has one lap in the books. That lap should give him last place points. That he ignored the black flag should be counted as he never entered the track, after leaving....
DQ's I've only seen used for technical violations, because the points/results achived were done so while "cheating" so should be removed. Rough driving has also been used to DQ, but ignoring a black flag, we he already has legitimate laps in the book?
Also the DQ's are used in severe curcumstances. DQ for tech, you'd lose all your points for the night. DQ for rough driving, you are throw out of the track. Either case you would not be allowed to run the second feature. Tom was....
Unless Sunset has DQ'd before, and has an example of such, for ignoring the black, I think the 47 deserves last place feature points.... this is not the time or the place to make a new rule...
The night in question.
Walters left the track under Yellow
They gave him 3 or 4 laps to get back out, He did not make it.
I was sitting in Turn 3 and 4 and i could see the corner guy trying to wave Tom to stop. Tom drove by him into Green flag racing.
Tom got the black flag for comming back on the track, He lost points because he did about 4 laps and did not exit the track when the black was waved
I'm not saying this is right or wrong.
i dont kno about the ruling at sunset but at ptbo, if u receive the black flag for anything other then mechanical reasons, u receive 0 points for that race
