The $1000 is some king of the hill race, not thunders..
Last i heard it was $600 to win thunder. But more the the point, they payout below 1st place I've heard drops to what all the other tracks a paying. With an average thunder car and the size of the field there, you might be looking at $100 bucks. I'm not sure what having the largest WINNING payout in Ontario does other than make the future track champion a fair amount of cash...
There are a very limited number of cars that can show up and challenge for a win at not their home track...
