What I have found with racers is they really don't want to win anything they didn't earn. Winning by defeat, rain outs, scoring errors or any error is not the same as winning it from honest competition.
+1, I also notice this!
Well that wasnt the only one....apparently they also messed up the late model ROY as well....i did hear the dinner was awsome...and a replacment for Brian is a good thing....it was not a good position for him.
Well they messed up just about everything else to do with season end results this year, I don't know why this is such a suprise. As for Brian being replaced by Bill, you can say you heard it first (about 6+ weeks ago) on CRO!
You check off a box on your sign up form that you will be eligible for rookie status this season.
As far at the rookie of the year for 4 cylinder this year I went to the banquet with the person that got this trophy. He knew he had raced in this division before although not completing a full season he did race more than 4 races. He also knew who should of been deserving of the rookie of the year and went over to congratulate him and he gave the trophy to Stacey Clarke.
Like I said I did attend the banquet last night. It was not very well attended at all but the people that were there did seem to enjoy themselves.
A few points:
- The roast beef dinner was awesome!!!
- There was no trophies for positions 4 through 15 anymore
- First place no longer wins a jacket!
- The payouts were not very much
- Awards were handed out to track staff, volunteers and sponsors (nice touch)
- They held a charity auction which had good intentions but went on way too long (about an hour or hour and half)
- It was announced our pit steward Bill will now replace Bryan Watt and Vic will now be our pit stewart
- The roast beef dinner was awesome!!!
Charity auction was a terrific money raiser,i think they said it was going to the special olympics, anyone know for sure and how much was raised. Does anyone know if tom walters went as i heard he was going to go but was extremely sick and would do his best to make it. If indeed the auction was for the special olympics, congrats to wes and pat for a job well done and to tom as i know he is the local good will ambassador to the area and really enjoys all and anything associated with helping out , for all special olympians.Sure hope he was there because hes really been one terrific spokesman for these guys.Saw a picture of tom in a local newspaper a couple of weeks back throwing out the first bowling ball of the 2009 season for the special olympics. Congrats to all of you that help support special olympics.
if a rookie runs a full season, there every points night that didnt get rained out, or a rookie that runs half a season, who should it go to? Dont ask sunset cuz they will screw that up royaly as they already have proved.
