There are a lot of things that they may not be aware of, such as how to operate a backhoe and and a pump to solve the flooded pits ordeal, however they are very much aware of the lack of information etc. on the the website.
I do not think any influence we think we may have posting our concerns and complaints on the net or anywhere else are going to change any of that, I am sure if Wes saw some valid evidence that his website was costing him sponsorship he may approach it a little differently who knows......Aside from all the crap we have not raced in two weeks and it sucks, right now I do not care about crappy websites, updates, tall weeds, dirty crap houses or cold french fries. I will put up with a lot worse JUST TO RACE......!!!!
And when it comes right down to it for fans and drivers alike that is all we really want isn't it??I have done my share of spouting off about things I would like to see change, however after alot of the crap I have read in these forums in the past few days, about cops in the pits, pissed off drivers, switching tracks and all the rest of it I think people are starting to lose site of why we do what we do.......We just want to race, I don't think any of us build cars so that we can become drama queens every saturday night.
I am soooo crossing my fingers that the rain holds up and we can all sit our asses in our cars this weekend and pound the ever loving crap outa them for a couple of hours regardless of what track we are at. Whether you are a driver or a fan If you love racing none of this crap means anything once the green flag drops
I will sit on unpainted bleachers that pinch my ass for 4 hours to watch Stompin' Tom race any day...
I am not disagreeing with your points Alan, it`s just been we have been beating this dead horse on these forums all season, if the point did not get through a month ago it never will.
The one I will disagree with is `decent` Staff.. The people at the track including those trying to fix scoring issues etc. are awesome...even Spencer lol. This is not a career choice these people have made they are hardcore fans that volunteer their time every Saturday night to get ringside seats to something they love, and yah they get a bit of pocket money to cover their fuel expenses and they are doing a great job.I can think of worse things that were going on last year, website included this year has been a cluster (insert appropraite term here).
But the drivers still get paid and we have somehwere to race, weather permitting.
Enjoy the rest of the season, it will be snowing before we know it.
+1 this quote i think applies no matter what track or type of racing you do well put
When it really comes down to it, racing is suppose to be fun. If your not having fun anymore you have to start questioning why you are still doing it. If your not having fun at one track, try another track. But you have to have the fun come back into the sport. Forget about the politics, and all the rest. If that is getting in the way then some things need to change. Everyone just wants to get out there and race to have fun, bottom line.
Let me clarify, the majority of staff especially the new mouth of the south Spencer are awesome.
What l am saying is there's a right way and a wrong way,if you grasp the right way then things get fixed and done its simple because its an obstacle in your way and you remove it.There is no excuse period,if the drivers and fans want to know whats happening at the track, i.e. points, finishes etc then its simple fix it,it is very disrespectful to your true supporters a total embarrasement, its a very cheap fix, if the pits keep flooding out then simple fix it and if you cant fix it or afford to get some one in to fix it then you are in the wrong business,Remember how bad Barrie was?? they were going to flatten it what an eye sore and thats no B/S,people forget that Nigel and Gord came along and re-invented the wheel it was a sight to see.Sorry but the buck stops with the management only they can get things back on track, imagine when you have drivers fans etc willing to come out and paint walls etc for free because they care so much about the once mighty double S it is a very sad situation almost heart breaking. The winners are the Barrie Speedway Supporters because their drivers crews fans etc now realise how good they have it, it is a great facility.

Here are a few examples of the same topics over and over again, some great ideas that would really help to improve things.
A couple of things have happened in the last couple of months, SS ownership had a forum user disecting bits of information from these topics and relaying them to Management in a very negative light, so for the most part I think this had a lot of bearing on presenting any of these topics to management constructively and tossing those hopes in the crapper.
I do not disagree that what we see or lack there of is on multiple levels a justifiably reason to rant and get pissed off.
But to do so in here now I think is futile and will do nothing more than evidence to Wes that these forums are a detriment to his track rather than any benefit.
Fans and drivers have offered in the past to help cut grass, paint walls..etc. etc.. I have a guy that wants to bring a culvert and his backhoe and solve the flooding problem pro bono. We have people wanting to help with website, printing flyers you name it. There is a lot of people wanting to contribute their time and money to make it a better place and it really doesn`t matter who owns it.
I bet we could round up an army of people that want to contribute in some capacity just so we have a great place to race and to watch races every weekend.
So now what stands in the way of this happening is my question. Is this guy able to trust in the fact that people genuinely care about the track and want to support it? Maybe, based on some of the comments I have seen maybe not, he may be a one man show who knows.
I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, I want to see the track still around to watch my kids chase championships as well, maybe what we need to do is approach Wes with some of the offers and ideas and hopefully try making a little progress here, it does not take a rocket scientist to point out all of the shortcomings we see but it may take some creative genius to come up with a plan to help improve them.
