Thanks to the Barrie Drivers who made the trek south and added to the excitment of opening night and new beginnings it seems at Sunset. Come back anytime 🙂
Well, this was my first trip to Sunset in a few years. Overall, the racing was good. Glad there were few cautions and the show was run off as Dstr said by 9:10 pm on a frigid night. Would have liked to have seen the intermission shortened or cut out completely. Spencer was his usual entertaining self on the mic.
I think the car counts were about 18-19 Mini's, 17-18 Thunder and 15-16 Limited Late Models. One concern would be with the Thunders which had about 4-5 drivers who probably will not be regulars.
Limited Late Model top 5 (unofficial):
1.Rob Poole
2.Vic Parsons
3.Darin Malcolm
4.Jason Witty
5.Kevin Cornelius
Poole took over the lead after contact between second running Witty and leader Gord Shepherd sent Shepherd spinning. Both went to the back. Tom Walters hit the wall in practice and used Bruce Rankin's car in the feature. He was up to third when contact with Parsons ended his night. Chris Morrow had mechanical issues all night and was a DNF in the feature.
My 2009 Race Count: 12
My 2009 Track Count: 7 - East Bay Raceway (FL), New Smyrna (FL), Volusia (FL), Bristol (TN), Flamboro (ON), Delaware (ON), Sunset (ON)
Up Next: Merrittville (ON), Monday May 18
Free driver admission for the entire year has won over MANY people in the pits.
glad to hear that Sunset was sold, hope the new ownership turns the track around quickly. On a side note Barrie did jump the gun on calling the racing tonight I left the shop and could see the sun, whats up with that. Oh well guess there is all ways next week.
its bullshit Chris!
And free admission? Thats what i'm talking about! thats respecting a racer!
