Registered drivers are free this season, and $20 across the board for a pit passs!!!
Thayne, you seem so unhappy with Barrie. Â How come you praise how in love you are with the track? Â i dont get it. Â and yes, FREE admission.
I am un happy with the barrie management...not the race track and the people that race there. I am so critical cause a year and a half ago everyuthing was peaches and now we are falling fast and it pisses me off....
do ya get it now?
It's a pretty hard deal to point fingers at a track in this day and age when the focus on survival is the only thing on your mind when you get out of bed.
Racing has changed to a point that no one, including track owners were ready and in place to take on the hardships of promoting something that is as big as nothing, but as little as a maybe in today's standards.
Tracks like Barrie Speedway were purchased by Folks that didn't have a clue about racing, but bought because of the fact that they believed it was a good investment.
Investments to these new era owners are case in point, that the tracks don't make money fast enough to warrant their investments, so in turn they come back up for  sale in a short time.
Real Promoters that understand the racing business do very much okay, like Flamboro.
I am sure there has been so many times over that they would have loved to throw in the towel, but they also knew at the end of the day, racing is racing and it takes a huge commitment from fans to make it profitable for track owners and promotores.
Racing is a funny business... when its hot- it's hot !!
When it sucks..it really sucks...
and Race Fans and Racers alike need to understand the big picture here.
Racing at tracks like Barrie and Sunset are not done with huge returns under new ownership, they are just in rehab to figuring out a way to make it in this sport, survive, draw crowds, and be willing to wait out the winter months to see if everyone comes back...
Racing in Canada from a teams stand point is a huge difference from the race tracks  standpoint, but at the end of the day it all comes back to fans.
Without them, Tracks fail.
Without them, Teams fail.
Without IT- racing fails and on a scale from one to ten..that sucks big time !!
The new ownership of Sunset Speedway stands to do no better then tracks like Flamboro, who holds the longest running streak at winning, but at least they are
trying, and that is what makes racing such a crazy business to start with.
Its all a game of holding fire crakers in your hand.... sure you can do it a bunch of times but one day it's really going to hurt..... ouch !! Â
As a car owner, driver and fan, I hope Sunset and all the tracks can have a great season. The year has started off with a lot of cancellations already due to mother nature. Cars will be expensive to run this year and given the economy, everyone is going to be watching every last dime.
I don't think anyone wants to see a track have a miserable year and I agree, we need them as much as they need us. Truly, one of the reasons I want to launch the OSCA is to enhance that partnership. It will take a year to see how the season unfolds in these unknown and often challenging times. One thing is for certain, there will always be racers itchin to get out there and fans wanting to see local action up close and see and hear all the entertainment that racing offers.
There will always be challenges and obstacles to overcome (every industry goes through them, racing is no different) and I am pretty confident that our sport can beat all the negatives and naysayers and witness our sport grow.
Sounds like the first race of the year at Sunset was a good ol fashion duel at the OK Corral! Both Kim (Mitchell) and I are itchin to get the season going at Peterborough! 4 rain-outs in a row is enough to drive anybody nuts! Luckily for us, we've used the cancelled dates to get our cars fully prepped.

Free driver admission for the entire year has won over MANY people in the pits.
Well glad to see that some changes that are making people happy are taking effect already. I always felt that was something that should be addressed, even as a fan, as they're the ones putting on the show so therefore they should be able to enter free. Glad to hear!
