Ross Evans is a stand up guy! let's not start poking at people individually. I agree with Ross that the 4 fun class needs to be more safe. Heck and Holland come look at my dads car and tell me what you think....it's safer then most! no cheap shots please. it's not neccessary, especially on a public forum such as this one!

rossevans i have read your posts for some time and watched you race on 3 occasions . Last night was the first time i had enough time to really look at your car .  I don't know if you built that car or bought it that way but it has far more safety issues then my 4 Fun . Our 4 Fun was the quickest of the class was less then a 1/2  second slower then your thunder car ,

Ross if safety is really one of your main concerns you might want to stop welding on top of old welding on your car and invest in a grinder . You may also want to consider stopping to weld  mis matched  sized wall tubing together on your car in the name of safety .

While watching you refuel your car i saw what looked to be one of the worst installations of a fuel cell i have ever seen . My 4 Fun has a 5 gallon marine tank with hi pressure fittings and a propper car installed in a far more professional manner then the cell you are running  .

There is a lot of room for safety improvements in our class and i am all for them but from what i have seen of your deal . you may want to clean up you own act first

Thanks for standing up for me, but I'm a big boy. Time to have a bit of fun with this 😉

Seeing as how you are checking out my car, it would've been nice of you to say hi, and give me the same opertunity as you had. I would very much like to see yours. If it is as good as you claim here, it would be nice to see. However some of the flaws in your post lead me to beleive its not.

1) You are a 1/2 second off my thunder time - Sounds a bit quick, but oh well lets run with that. To suggest that its sensible to run one class of cars 1/2 a second slower than another, and not require the same safety is foolish. Thanks for making my point.

2) Welding on my cage - I purchased that car about 4 weeks before the start of the season. There are some terrible welds on the cage. Not done well at all in my places. Tube mismatching, dunno where you saw that, unless you are talking about the gussests at the top of the cage that don't matter. No its not the worlds greatest cage. However its held up to 3 hard hits at Kawartha with me this year. Its been on its roof ect ect. Car has been around forever.

Now to the point. You can see that my "poorly" welded cage does the job. So even a novice in 4-fun should be able to weld in a functional cage.

I did look at other cars out there running with NO door bars. Verical bars bolted to sheet metal ect.. If you've taken the time to build what I've suggest, and thats the only way you would be able to complain about my car, I don't see what your issue is. You obviosuly support safety, have it in your car, or you just made a really stupid post.

Plus I will put my "poor" cage up against no cage any day....

3) Unfortunatly you have no idea of what safe fuel cell is. I have a correct racing plastic cell, enclosed in tin, with fuel foam inside. The fabrication of the metal around the outside, is not the best, but it is complete. The problem with it is? I can only assume because you were not close enough for me to even notice you were there, you didn't get a very good look.

As for a marine tank, they call it that for a reason. I won't even bother explaining the flaws with that. Oh wait, lets change the rules for every race class out there, from foam filled RACING FUEL CELLS to marine gas tanks LOL

Keep going with the fuel cell and I'll post a picture of it on here....

What a Joke!!!!!

I normally don't post after so many back and forths, but are you kidding?  I have a feeling that the 1/2 second difference was between Ross' WORST race lap time and the 4funs BEST race lap time.

Matching different sized tubing is used for safety.  I have a set-up in the front and back ends of my car made of 2 different sizes of tubing.  It takes the force of the hit and colapses.  This stops the damage to my frame, rad, motor, control arms, etc.  If you question this, come and look at my car on Saturday, I will gladly hold your hand and explain it to you.  Evidence of this is my hit last night.  I took it off the trailer this morning, and aside from a couple of bent bars, and a bit of missing paint, the car has no other damage.  Even the tow is perfect.

And sorry Ash, you don't ever have to be injured or be stiff the next day . . . I hit the 3 car HARD last night, and because of the safety equipment in my car, I'm not the least bit stiff.
