I normally don't post after so many back and forths, but are you kidding?  I have a feeling that the 1/2 second difference was between Ross' WORST race lap time and the 4funs BEST race lap time.

18.16 was my worse recored in practice, pushing like crazy, oversteering and getting loose off. 16.7's - 16.4's were the quicker cars in practice. You guys know your 4-fun times so there is the comparison.

1/2 a second off me might not have been that far off  :-[

And sorry Ash, you don't ever have to be injured or be stiff the next day . . . I hit the 3 car HARD last night, and because of the safety equipment in my car, I'm not the least bit stiff.

Hey, don't be sorry! I can see your point (and everybody elses.) I'm glad you're feeling great after that hit, it sucked to see you in it, I was rooting for ya 🙂

On another note, I'm not bashing saftey gear in cars (especially fourfuns, because yes, they do need it), but I can also see VWracer's point. I don't want to put all that stuff into my car (that I feel safe already in.) when I'm only using the Tempo for the rest of this season. I'd rather put that money into a proper fitting cage for the car I'm building for next year instead of throwing it away for the fourfun. And nobody suggest that I sell the Tempo after this season because I put all the saftey gear in it because really, who is going to buy it, everybody wants something fast or tiny. =/ I mean I could TRY and sell it, but really...

And It's not that I am disagreeing with anything you are saying. Racing seats are awesome, cages are even better. But I know that belts (4-point or 5.) tightened as tight as comfortable will hold you in too. I'd like to argue that in Thunders a lot of people that drive those are experienced moreso than we are, but it wouldn't be valid to compare.

The thing you have to realize about the way the 4 funs are set up using a 4 or 5 point harness is the way they are attached and how the stock seat is used. With my car the race seat and belts are attached to the cage. I am sitting within my cage inside of a car, my cage could get pushed over 4 inches and I am going along with it with my seat and belts. A 4 fun has belts attached to floor and the seat is attached as normal street car seats are. Can you imagine if you were to get hit real hard and the seat let loose on the runner and pushed forward and your belts stayed attached to floor. You would crush your pelvis or midsection.

I seen the accident that happened on Saturday night in turn 1-2. I don't want to downplay it as I know there were injuries but it looked to be just like any other accident... nothing that big really. I hope Bob is going to be fine and I wish his family the best worrying about him. I guess next year will be a big boost to safety in that division but I also fear that a lot of the drivers will move up to 4 cylinder because it will be just as much work and we will be looking at a 50 car division in 4 cylinders.
