I am a fan who travelled 2 hours to go to your Wed. night show.
I was planning on going to the next Wed. night show but you dragged
last nights show so long I left after the second caution because I had
to work the next day. If you would consider running the late model
feature first which is what I came to see, I would come to the next
one, and I think a few other fans would do likewise.

Nono I know that they come sealed and get re sealed and all that. But Mark said he has sealed the 47 motor. Thats why Im curious as to how.
Well if you think about that, that might not be the truth. If he did in fact seal it, why would he be tearing it down? 😉 I didn't know that Sunset was in the engine rebuilding business, nor did I know you could rebuild your own crate and have it seal at the track. My question would be what is the difference between a CRATE engine and a sealed BUILT engine then?
There is something VERY wrong to begin with if tracks/track tech have GM seal bolts. If they can get them, anyone can....
Exactly. Thats why I'm asking because it didnt really make sense to me. He said he's gonna tear it down after Saturdays race. I remember last year, they had a crate on standby in case someone needed it. Why not take the engine and give them a crate. Instead of giving them a chance to change whatever they have to change
Back in the day they sealed motors the week before a teardown to guarentee that it would not have parts changed or a motor swap
I have never heard so much whining about crates, if its such an issue then tear them apart, i have heard a whole shitload about mine too, its all cheated up, it came from the u.s. , best thing is that it never has been apart it still has the stock timing chain and the 8 qt pan on it, are the new ones better? Yes they are, lighter pistons and rings different rods, even heard of them being 20+ hp more right out of the box on the dyno, but i guess u hear a lot in this sport, and isnt it a one year suspension if u get caught tampering with one? I dont know who would wanna take that chance cause i sure wouldnt
yetti 69...the intended reason for the Crate program in the first place was to save racers money. I've run Crates since 2005, the first one at Flamboro. Crates are cheaper and allowed me to race in the class I wanted. Every engine builder I went to wanted anywhere from $17,000 (low) to $27,000. The Crate allowed me to get in for under $6000. The engine lasted over 3 years, had 82 nights on it and 7500 laps. All I did was change valve springs and spark plugs and oil quite often.
When we decided to go to Sunset I took the 602 out of my CVM Coupe because the 604 was not legal. I heard teams were allowed to use the smaller balancer, 7 quart pan and double timing chain. I was offered to have my engine taken apart and given a valve job, honing etc, and told I would gain 20 HP. I said no because I felt it wasn't right, and I still feel it isn't right.
A stock 602, that I suggested should get a break, is one that comes from GM store authorized by the track, and has not been taken apart....ever.
At Flamboro we made a rule that if anyone took the 604 apart, an ran it, they were disqualifed for a season, and I think that kept teams from messing with a good thing.
It seems incredibly stupid to take a $3200 engine and spend another $2500 or $3000 on it, simply defeats the purpose.
I won't go to a built engien because of the cost and I don't believe they are as reliable as a Crate. I don't care if someone runs a built engine as long as penalties or other things are put in place to bring parity.
I made those suggestions to help make racing better and closer, not to complain. When race teams stop coming out it will be too late. This is an easier fix than most people think.
I also suggested running the MRE 75 lapper first and spending the proper time that night to do the teching.
