Thanks Slapdown, you understand the purpose of the discussion and hopefully a few promoters are willing to set down some rules in the coming year to bring cars closer.
Tom and I talked on Saturday. Naturally he was a little upset at first thinking I was accusing him of cheating, but I told him I wasn't and also made that clear to him and on here. Tom can't help what happened in the last race, or the one before it, but he agrees something needs to be done to bring partiy, both for the sake of the series and the track. I didn't feel at all that Tom was indifferent to setting down some rules to help racing better. No matter what the rule package is for all southern Ontario tracks, he will still be in the hunt for a championship.
The good news about this discussion is that maybe we can get some things accomplished. We have a lot going for us in this sport. Anyone can see there are more stars running in Ontario right now than ever in the history of stock car racing. I'm talking about Champions from every form of racing. We also have some great race facilities to host these events, tracks have improved their venues and I think promoters would be glad to know some changes could be made to increase car count.
I think we need to phase in the newer cars and technology slowly, so we don't obsolete too many cars and make ourselves extinct. There are ways to accomplish this and perhaps some brain storming should be done in the next while with promoters, race teams, engine and chassis builders and sponsors. We're big enough to make it work, hopefully we care enough to get it done.
Racing should be fun for the competitors, exciting for the fans and profitable for the promoters.
last year when they did time trials for the llm's the 47 did a 14.6 and the 17 was at a 14.7 i believe.

I don't think the car is illegal, I haven't heard, but Mike wouldn't build an illegal car and I really don't think Tom would have an illegal engine, he wouldn't need to do that.
My concern is parity and there is something that needs to be changed to bring it in. It could be the use of "bump stops". Cars that are hooked up on them are very fast, and cars that are not are way off.
Parity means taking away advantages that most teams can't either afford or understand. The newer built cars on bump stops could be the rocket we're seeing and there is nothing wrong with the car, but there is lot's wrong with unequal or too much spread in competition.
Installing new shocks with compression and rebound variances is much simpler than figuring out the bump stop program and for most teams it's a new area of racing that not many know about. That goes for invaders as well.....no bump stops.
Gary, I don't think the answer is banning bump stops. They are inexpensive and there is alot of information out there about how to set up a car on bump stops. I am sure Mike McColl will help you if you are having trouble setting up/adjusting the car with bump stops. Bump stops are way better than the alternative if you don't use them which is coil binding.
Thane you are 100% right, bump stops are the least expensive way to go. We are on them and our car is very close, this isn't about me at all, or about Tom Walters. It's about bringing cars closer.
Mark Dilley says he will add penalties to the Limited Late Models, and he isn't doing it just to penalize one car or five cars, but to bring the competition closer. He will announce those penalties by next week, he's out west with his NASCAR team.
Many drivers were concerned about parity, but hopefully they will all return once the gap is closer. Matt Box will return, they love the track and the series. Even if the gap brings a dozen cars to par, it shouldn't change much in terms of who will be the front runners. What will change, and it was my reason for debating this in the fist place, is hopes of a better show for the fans, that would be the goal.
Tom Walters wants that, he wants to win it as well, and he may win it again, he might have to work harder next time but in doing so, the fans will get to see a much better race.
PS....Thane I hope you and your car are okay after the crash on Saturday.
