If you look at the poll results. throw out the results for people didn't attend and you have the results that leans towards a lot of people not returning.
Let get some more people that attended the meeting to tell us what they think.
I don't think that is fair to say.
The track has been very open online with what their plans are for next year. The new outlaw class seems to have a lot of support from the start. Its seems to be a result of the track listening to what drivers would like to do. Considering RWD V-8's are a thing of the past, it really seems to be keeping with the times. It is far more likely to attrack new younger guys than anything out there. Its representive as to what is being done on the street. The only thing that they will have to worrie about, is if one or two cars become dominate because of the open rules. Guys don't like running laps down, and if they are getting lapped every week, then you may not see them back. That said, I still think its well worth the effort.
For thunder, a lot more could've been done BUT if you rock the boat, you are going to piss your guys off. Guys were running in that class because they liked the rules, or what they have suit the rules and they way they are enforced. Moving to rules that are common and work with Barrie is another smart move. Enough change to allow for bigger combined fields at both track. Guys seem to be happy. Short term, it suits the tracks interest in keeping their drivers, and attracting some experinced drivers out there. Long term, its slowly killing the class and well see it get eaten up by LLM. That said, short term, they made the right choice.
The fault of sunset where you will see a loss of drivers is in removing the 4-fun class. However you cannot fault Sunset alone here. The trend at all the tracks this year, is to make all the divisions more advanced. Remove a lower one, and replace it with an upper one. No LLM at KD with cars expected to run LM. No thunder as we knew it at Mosport with cars expected to step up closer to LLM specs for a new class. No 4-fun at sunset, with the cars expected to step up to mini.
I think if most tracks start looking at their car count, they will find that more drivers are leaving than rookies are joining the sport, and there are less entry points to the sport.
Thunder rookies are now coming with a strong background from Mini, not from off the street. Mini has become a very advanced class, with strong race prepared cars dominating, again not the domain for someone green to racing from the stands of the street.
The results for people leaving Sunset I don't feel will reflect what will happen next year. I'm sure they will have a good year. Long term, and long term for every track out there, should be the concern.
Very well put, Ross. Barrie has the Charger class well suited for learning.
thanks for the info scott
Regular nights 1st $650, 24th $75
Invitationals 1st $1500, 24th $75
If I wasn't so lazy I would post the entire payout structure. The money is really good all the way down.
Scott I thought every sat. was going to be an invitational with point fund money being added to the weekly purse.Whats this regular night thing.Do you know what the weekly payout for the llm is going to be.
Skidder there will be a point system, but it will be in the way of earnings. So basically whoever wins the most money is your champion and on down the line for 2, 3rd etc. They are also paying for heats now. I believe they said $200 for heat wins for the Invitationals. I dont know what the payouts are for LLM, I do know they were increased to.
Forgot to mention that TC invitationals will be a 100 lap feature. This should be very interesting.
