Maybe its time to have a 3 track mini series for the mods.
That would mean Bassett would have to actually co-operate??
I can't speak for all mod drivers, but I can speak for myself. Adding a division like the Mod's could be exactly what that series needs. It is a dying series and anyone in the series would tell you that. And you can see for yourself when you show up at Varney and there is 6 or 7 cars (don't quote me on that, the night we ran Varney this year the Mod's where off, so I didn't actually see how many there were.) But we'll be at Varney on the 29th, with at least 2 Mod's. (That's all that will be ready..)
Wes has said TO myself!!! That he would like to run the Mod's I'm not twisting anything - he said he would like to bring that division to Sunset next year. There was no mention of getting rid of the 4 cyl's however, he did talk about having them on a seperate night - but folks that's why there is a drivers meeting in December - to voice your comments and concerns. I agree that 4 cylinder racing is exciting - I've been involved with a couple 4 cylinder teams and enjoyed every minute of it. They can take there cars 3 or 4 wide at Sunset - and that is exciting. The race this past weekend, with the top three cars was impressive and one of the best races I've seen this year. I'm looking forward to reading the race recap of it. I was sitting in the tower, and you can see everything from there.
Your all getting your panties in a twist over some "conversation" that the new owner has had. He's talking about bringing the Mods back, never said it was a done deal, obviously he would have to see more interest from other teams before he's going to make the call. Common folks put your self in Wes's shoes, he's not a dumb business man, he's going to go where the interest is.
Dave has talked to a few other Mod teams and they are also interested in running at Sunset, because like I said in a previous post the 2 or 3 other tracks that run them are too far away, or people don't like the promotors.
Obviously we would like to see 4 cyl's and Mods on the same night due to the fact the Burrows own 3 Mini's and 5 Mod's.
It seems that the track currently is fueled by rumours since that seems to be the only way for anyone to get information. Then, for example, when someone like Brian Watt who is involved in the track goes on a public broadcast and says 4 cylinders are moving to a weeknight, that gets people talking. The new track management really should call a driver's meeting now and deal with the rumours and fact, and put these idle stories to rest.
I don't think anyone is getting their "panties" in a twist, although I've heard Doherty likes wearing his that way to begin with. ;D
People are posting their opinions here. Isn't that what this forum is all about?
