I was listening to race time radio and Wes was on it and he was saying that hes not running points next year!... if i were him i would not do that cause now thats theres no points theres not gonna be much to lose and now theres gonna be way more crashes than 2008 race season.

That is Wes he thinks out of the box and it may succeed or it may fail but at least he is willing to take a chance not follow the rest. This way the drivers get there money each week when they need it for tires, repairs or whatever. It will make the racers race each and every week and not sit and look at the points standing, go for it. The controversy that took place this year would not be a factor as Tom would have taken home most ofthe money as he dominated the year. As a matter of fact this is the type of situation that is suited for Tom and Chris more than most as they come to win not just finish. We just have to sit back and watch the 2009 season at Sunset Speedwaythen make a decision on the merit of a no point season it will be a great success or it will fail only time will tell.

One question. Since the points money is divided over the races, and say 5th in thunder is worth $400. Over 15 races that only an extra $26 bucks paid in the 4th place position. Something like 10th paying what, $75 bucks year end, for an extra 5 bucks a week?

Very interesting, but has this been thought out, or is it a bit of a quick reaction to the points situation this year?

the reason you have a points race is many..to bring racers out every week, to give a guy a chance to win the points who may not win the most features, to bring excitement to the end of the year in a last nights points battle, thats all gone now. Maybe this is a new way of thinking but why not just score the nights properly post it so EVERYONE can see it and carry on.

I can see this being good idea for the entry level class, but it breeds a whole new style of weekend racing. I can't see anybody putting up their equiptment on a regular basis to win an extra few bucks a night at greater risk of damage. I doubt you will see a crew like Walters put $1000 bucks worth of suspension back on his car in less than 3 yellow laps so that they can earn an extra few bucks it just does not make sense. However it is worth every bloody knuckle, sprained ankle and short winded rush to the pits to get them back out there night after night in hopes of a year end podium finish.

None of us make any money racing, some are more fortunate than others to have decent backing to run nice equiptment week after week, with out the chase most will be less likely to do whatever it takes to keep their gear in order week after week.
Running part time this year was stress free and I really enjoyed it, but those hunks of wood and plastic collecting dust in the corner of my basement represent a lot of hard work and dedication over the last 3 years for me, my family and friends.
The fans have their favorites and could care less how much money they took home they want to see how their guys did in points each week.
It may make for more exciting racing, it could turn every night into a wreck fest who knows.
I really haven't been racing long enough to have well rounded opinion as a driver, but I am really curious to see how the Vet's feel about it.
